We reserved a 1 bedroom "luxury" suite with full kitchen. The bed was a full bed, expected something larger in a suite. The water pressure in the shower was non existent - more like a trickle. The "full" kitchen was a fridge, cooktop and coffee maker with a FEW dishes and pans. I at least expected a toaster and more utensils.

One of the doors to the balcony wouldn't open/unlock and the other wouldn't lock. The "safe" in the closet was simply set on the floor and not anchored to anything.

The couches and chairs in the sitting room were uncomfortable and looked a bit dirty - we put towels on them before we sat down. When looking at the balcony furniture, you can tell the chairs were meant to have cushions on them that they didn't and the table should have some kind of a top (probably glass), but had nothing - anything you set on it was wobbly.

They do provide a nice big container of coffee beans and grinder - we loved that. The staff at the front desk and housekeeping were WONDERFUL. The restaurant bar - mixed. The breakfast they provide is good - a lot of tasty fresh fruit included.

I thought there was a full restaurant here for some reason - the book in the room even referenced room service. Not so - breakfast and happy hour only. We decided to have a cocktail one afternoon when the open sign was showing and staff were in the bar. We sat outside for 20 minutes and no one even approached us. We left and went down the street.

It's in a nice location - but there is no pool or beach nearby to swim in - a bummer. The bar/restaurants closer to the center of town have music playing in the wee hours of the morning, so the location was probably quieter than most. Grocery store next store was another bonus. There were a lot of maintenance things that seemed to be ignored - the closet in the bedroom was missing a knob. There's no dresser to put non hanging clothes in. There's a big closet outside the bathroom - but no shelves in it, so it's only good to store suitcases. Lots of black scuffs all over the wood floor; it didn't look like they ever tried to clean them up.

The AC worked well and each of the 2 rooms had ceiling fans. Nice selection of TV channels that had English speaking for the evenings or rainy day when you want to chill and read or watch TV. No TV in the bedroom - only the main room.

This space is FAR from a luxury suite - it's ok - average in most ways. Loved, loved the front desk staff - always really nice and helpful. Housekeeping always made sure we had clean towels, etc. and honest - I had to tell her to take the money on the bed; she would just set it to the side.

Room tip: upper floors give you a good ocean and town view.

From the look of Bocas town, and the outside of the hotel for that matter, I expected a lot less. My room was very nice and comfortable. The A/C worked well, there were ceiling fans that were nice, even a small kitchen with coffee beans, a grinder, and coffee maker. The bathroom had a very nice shower, although the sink was very small and impractical for anything except rinsing hands. The views of the water are nice, you just have to overlook the one row of buildings between you and the water. the breakfast is nice also. I doubt that there is a better place to stay in town.

I do suggest that you buy water at the store nearby because when you run out of the one bottle they give you, they won't give more.

Room tip: Higher is better for views.

The staff at the hotel could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Located on the end of the main strip, we were away from the bar noise, but close enough to walk everywhere. The breakfast was nice, and we were thankful to have a drying line on our first floor patio.
Be sure not to accept room 104, which shares a room with the laundry and the water pump. The pump kept us up all night. Also, steer clear of room 101, which is next to the office (and very small). Apparently a smoker on an upper level set the smoke alarm off, which was just on the other side of the wall - at 2:30 a.m.
We would stay here again, but only on an upper floor.

Room tip: Don't accept room 101 or 104

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Hotel Palma Royale for two nights in February. The hotel is in the perfect location - everything in Bocas town was walking distance. During the first day we took a water taxi from across the street from the hotel to Red Frog Beach ($8 per person each way) and on the second day we took another water taxi, allso across the street from the hotel, to Playa Zapatilla. Along the way we made stops to see dolphins and starfish. The day trip was $30. The hotel recommended these trips to us and we are so glad that they did! The Palma Royale also offers complimentary breakfast with coffee, fresh juice and fresh fruit included. Our room was gorgeous with ocean views and it was very clean. We really enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it to anyone!

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights and really enjoyed the location and the staff. The breakfast was an added bonus as well! Our only complaint was that the air conditioner in our room was extremely loud. We informed the front desk and they sent someone to look at it but he wasn't able to fix it. There weren't any other rooms available so we decided to stay put.

Overall it was a pleasant experience and would recommend!

Room tip: Make sure your AC isn't super noisy!!
