This villa was recommend by our nanny who takes care of our two young children when we stay in the area. Their parents are the villa managers.
Truly amazing house with stunning view on the beach. As soon as we entered in there, it was such a relaxing atmosphere. We felt truly like home, within our local family.
We stayed only for dinner. Stunning home made cooking with fresh fish.
We are looking forward to come back next year and stay more in this villa.
We just spent 6 amazing days at the Saffron house and it is truly paradise. I had to drag my wife out at the end because she never wanted to leave. The property and house are so tranquil and you can tell that no expense was spared creating this unique place - top notch design, amenities, and the best part was the staff and food - no request was too much. The villa managers Chris and Jeremy (who are Sri Lankan but have lived a fascinating life in high-end hospitality all over the world) make sure everything is up to their world class standards. My wife provided an extensive list of Sri Lankan cuisine (including desserts) and Chris made sure they were all taken care of - and more. We had the most amazing crab curry, prawn curry, fried fish, fresh parathas, banana cake, wattalapam pudding, etc. - every meal was a gourmet feast.
The location is very peaceful looking out over a coconut grove and the Southern Ocean. The only sounds are the crashing waves and the local peacocks from time to time. The swimming beach is just a short walk down the road (2 min) and is a great sandy swimming beach (which is sometimes hard to find on the Southwest coast (we've stayed right on the beach at a few places in Talpe and you couldn't even swim because it was too rocky up and down the shore)
Over several visits we have stayed at many of the top villas in this stretch (Talpe/Mirissa/Tangalle, etc) and the Saffron House is at the top of the list. We will definitely be making plans to return soon.
