In our last 10 months of travelling around Asia, I am struggling to think of a homestay we have enjoyed more than River Valley!
They sent a tuk tuk driver, the hero that is Dinesh, to pick us up from our long train journey - free of charge. When we arrived at River Valley, we were met by the beaming smiles of the wonderful family, and their 2 lovely dogs Nicky and Leah! They were all so helpful and caring throughout our stay too, even taking time to bring me some remedies when I wasn’t feeling well.
The room was super comfortable, it was amazing value for money! So clean and well maintained!
The included breakfast was very big and varied, and set us up perfectly for the day. There is also a kitchen area where you can prepare some food if you need to! And free filtered water!
We really enjoyed the fruit and the tour of their amazing spice garden.
I can’t recommend this place highly enough, thank you for giving us such an unforgettable few days!
We loved to stay at Danushri's house and would definitely recommend it to anyone else! She organised a delicious breakfast for us as well as the transportation to our dinner place in Kandy or our trip to Sigirya. We found a home away from home!
We stayed three nights in this family-run guesthouse. Reasonable prices. Room is not big, but you have everything you need. Room and bathroom are spotless, wifi good, a/c and fan efficient. Sleeping quality is good and the mattresses wonderful. Our room facing the garden became very hot in the afternoon, and it was not very comfortable. May be other rooms are better.
Breakfast is very good. There is access to kitchen, fridge and cooking facilities and they have laundry service. The location is nice, in a garden and close to the river. But the best about this guesthouse is the outstanding service, friendly and professional. They can help you with transportation, excursions and good advice. The owner Don, took us to Sigiriya and to other places in Sri Lanka in his car. We were lucky to have such an experienced and considerate driver and really enjoyed his company. Strongly recommended!
The guesthouse is located about 5 km from Kandy and it may take time to get back and forth in a car. Traffic in and around Kandy may be heavy and some roads are narrow. Tuk-tuk is faster.
My wife and I stayed here during our honeymoon. The guest house is run by the Munasinghe family, who is the friendliest lot you can imagine. We had a wonderful stay, and it was the nicest place we stayed on entire Sri Lanka. The family is very helpful, the room and the home made breakfast were excellent. The place is very clean and nice green surroundings.
Would recommend the pick up service when arriving, as it might be a bit difficult to find the first time. We also rented the van and Mr Munasinghe is a careful and considerate driver. Mrs Munasinghe even arranged our next place to stay in Sigirya. They all speak very good English.
This is the best hotel we have stayed so far I dont even know where to start. Dhanushri and her family are a warm and welcome familie. I called Dhanushri that we would have an early check in and that wasnt a problem. When we arrived my girlfriend was really sick and she got some special herb tea. We arrived in the room and I can officialy say I wish my house was so clean. I have really not 1 remark about it. The room is spacious a Nice shower with hot water some new soap and a very good fan. There is also a kitchen available to do everything you need. When you walk out of the gate to the rivier it takes like 2 minutes and it is just a beautifull view. The breakfast you get is amazing and everything you want and really enough. Ask for a tour threw their herb garden they Will explain everything and it is really nice and informative.
