New hotel with nice view

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 13 Jan 2017
We stayed here for one night. Hotel is new so facilities are great. The shower room was probably the nicest we had in our one-week travel in Sri Lanka! Although it was clean and modern, we found this hotel a bit lacking in character. Perhaps being very new and they haven't done with decorating, etc but it felt like a nice dorm than a hotel. Nevertheless, we were happy to stay there as it was clean, modern and comfortable!

We spent three nights in the new building which is an addition to the previous bungalow. Room was well laid out, with a balcony. The hotel is quite high up on hill and all rooms have a great view of Kandy. Chef Gamini is a great cook, well read, and a very kind gentleman who went out of his way to prepare dishes and drinks appropriate for my wife who was down with a cold. Kandy town is about 10 minutes ride out on transport which is a must given the hotel's location. There is nothing within walking distance and fine if one is looking for a comfortable place to rest after visiting. We enjoyed our stay at the Kandyan villa !

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this nice hotel. The hotel is nice, spacious and clean - as seen on the pictures. There is a nice little garden with playground facilities. The view is amazing, and there is nice and fresh air. You Can get to Kandy town within 10 minutes by tuk tuk. The owners Are very helpful and will help you with tuk-tuk or taxis to other destinations. The chef(Garmini) is adorable and makes a hearty good Sri Lankan food- as you prefer it. The place is very quiet and children-friendly. We Can highly reccomend this place.

Location: If you are not very fit, or checking into this hotel late in the night, i highly recommend taking a taxi there. Its pretty tricky to find this spot. About 5 or 6kms from tooth relic temple.
Room: Our room had a nice view. Room was pretty spacious and very clean. It had a TV with mostly srilankan language channel and one or two english or south indian language channels.
Breakfast: We didn't purchase breakfast as part of our room when we booked so it turned out to be on the expensive side to buy once you are in the hotel. It cost us close to $9 per person which included, toast, eggs, tea and fruits.
Tip : If you had hired a driver and car for this trip, call ahead and ask for driver accomodation (not sure if they charge for this), when we arrived we were informed the driver accomodation was full

Room tip: great views; clean hotel; Hot water; great service.

This place is lovely and value for money...We stayed in the new wing and the rooms are spacious and clean. The views are lovely. The staff are friendly and helpful. The chef Mr Garmini is wonderful and went out of his way to cater for our special needs and the food was tasty....service from staff was 5 star...
The only negatives were that the geyser was not sufficient enough to provide a full hot shower , the tv has limited channels and is snowy . the wifi is free but the reception is poor and slow in the new wing...A plug in insect repellent would be a helpful addition to the room...
Important to note is the place is not in town and difficult to find with narrow untarred roads...Best to arrive here during daylight....Also best for small cars...We struggled with a minivan....All in all its value for money and I would recommend it to those on a budget...

This hilltop hotel sits on the Amaya Hills with one of the most stunning view of the natural Kandy. The service from the hotel staff was exceptional, there was momentary issues of wifi and water, but they were able to solve it with a smiling face. Good simple breakfasts, nice area around the hotel to take walks through. Rooms were OK, a little too small for us, however their guest house was much more spacey and agreeable. Overall a very enjoyable trip and the location grew on us over time. We appreciated the tranquility of being up in the hills away from the busy congested roads below and in the city centre.
