Fundo is an old Spanish term for a farm/ranch combination (a more modern word would be 'hacienda'). Expect then to find ample grounds, calm, relaxing and quiet, but there is more: this fundo has been transformed into a modern hotel, with all the amenities: fully furnished and clean rooms, tv, wi-fi, pools (yes pools), restaurant area and lots of trees as well as common areas for a more lay back moment.
The hotel itself and the area is quite safe. There is an on site restaurant that can prepare a variety of dishes for guests and there are other restaurants nearby. At night you might need to grab a taxi (they can call you one) to go downtown Nazca. There are stores nearby as well where you can get basics. A simple breakfast is included that suffice to most.

The grounds are 'patrolled' by 3 very friendly dogs and a grounds keeper during day and night. It is a few minutes from the downtown area that also has hotels but it is more busy and loud. Most tourists prefer the downtown locales probably because of the nearby bus station (I'd say 90%+ of foreign tourists get to Nazca by bus.). It is possible to get to the Fundo San Rafael with a short taxi ride from the bus station as well and I'd promise you would not be disappointed.
We got a rental and drove for very special reasons (that is another story and I'd reco not to unless you are going to do other side trips and possibly make a stop in Huacachina on the way to/from; also I'm quite familiar with Peru, its roads and driving there after almost 2 decades of traveling there; again I'd reco not to drive unless you are really very familiar with roads and driving there).
If you do drive, there is ample space to park and keep your car in the hotel grounds, where it will be safe.

Back to the review, the locale is exactly what we wanted. At the time, there were only 3-4 other guests/parties and that made the relaxed adventure even better for us.
We were going to fly over the lines of course (the hotel is actually a bit closer than most other hotels and downtown, but it is irrelevant because if you arranged for a reservation/tour, they will come get you; going to the lines without reservation is something that I do not recommend..see my review on that also here in tripadvisor), and the plan was such that we were going to lose having breakfast, but not a problem, the staff said they would still serve us breakfast at our return, which was about 10:30-11 on the morning, What a service!
We spend several hours just wandering around the grounds for hidden treasures, and we did find many. I can't stress enough the great service and the help from the staff.
I fully recommend the hotel and wish we had the time to stay more days. Most people going to see the lines would make it even in a day trip from Lima (which I strongly recommend not to do), instead plan on 2-3 days to see other sites and always come back to this great locale.

One aspect I'd like to share to illustrate the service and commitment to customer service: I had booked the room thru bookings.com (sorry tripadvisor) and had a printed confirmation that was showing $60/night. Upon checking out I was presented with a bill for $66, so I asked what was the additional for, more out of curiosity. I was told for "service", but without much detail. I then asked for what service, thinking maybe it was a reservation fee, but the receptionist couldn't give me much detail. He called a lady who was working in a desk next to the reception and she promptly decided that they were waiving it since they assumed I was not happy with it. I then said that I would go get the reservation printout from the car and as I was coming back, I realized that a 10% service charge was to be paid at the hotel (in small print, it serves me for going rogue on tripadvisor!), thus I let the lady know and that I was going to honor the reservation of course. Just wanted to show that the staff was ready to solve immediately any problem to the satisfaction of the guest, even when they were right.

I'd positively go back (and we probably will) and fully recommending to friends traveling to Nazca

Room tip: If you have problems with stairs, get a first floor. A second floor room facing the center court is the nicest view to wake up to

Very relaxing place. Close to main areas and very safe.
Food is good, but there are restaurants close by too.
The receptionist there provided great customer service.
I'd definitely go back and recommend to friends..

I'm actually staying at this hotel and I love it!
Rooms are clean and is a peaceful area where one can relax.
It is close to the main areas. Just 3 mins away from the main road, supermarkets and restaurants.
Also it is close to the Maria Reiche's airport if you are thinking to fly over the Nazca lines.
Restaurant is open until 7 pm and food there is really good!
Great environment to stay as couple, family or solo.
Very safe and comfortable!
Totally recommend it!
