Sipadan Water Village, always knowned as SWV. I went to stay there with a group of friends in June. I had a great time, and think this is one of the best resorts on Mabul Island. Mabul Island is a 20 min boat ride to Sipadan.

The dive centre was nice, and well organised, everyone had a locker to keep their equipment so that you wouldn't lose anything. And your dive tirps were planned by 3pm the day before the dives. Divemasters were very friendly, helpful and experinced, Enjoyed every dive. You can also enjoy a sunset and night dive for a small fee...

The rooms were lovely, with a beautiful balcony and sun deck over looking the sea. The room had a shower, which was quiet slow, but had hot water. The rooms had no air condition, only ceiling fans. But it doesn't bother you much since the scenery is to die for...

The food is ok/good buffet syle.. It wasn't bad... but it wasn't execellent either... Staff very friendly, and they had cultural dances on certain nights...

Lovely holiday getaway.

stayed here in May this year, decided to upgrade to the delux suites with a a jacuzzi - well worth it imo - huge apartment and great sitting in a Jacuzzi at night - there is little else to do here apart from dive and read....and all the other relaxing stuff. Though they did a very good job of stiffing us on the exchange rates - watch out for how they handle this...

Dive guys were great, The instructor really helped my g/f who was completing here padi course having done some of it already in the UK - 1-1 tuition. If i have one complete it was that we were lumped into a group with a load of japanese tourists intent on photographing everything which made getting to see the micro stuff very difficult - would have preferred smaller groups and consideration of everyone enjoying the dives.

Dives off the side were as good as many other dives I have done round the world. And was able to dive Sipadan everyday on the boat trips - cheaper alternatives were not and were grateful of getting just one trip out to the island. The diving itself was superb.

Have to say that the food wasn't brilliant, but was ok - and was pretty clean. Only other complaint was that when we were leaving my g/f became very ill and they promised to take us to a doctor - which they didn't - they just seemed intent to offload us as soon as possible and get the new lot in - don't blame them but it left a bitter taste after what was an outstanding stay on the island - we eventually got sorted out when we eventually got back to KL.

Ever imagined holidaying on a fish tank......This is what this unique resort offers. From the moment you arrive you are made to feel like royalty. Upon arrival each guest receive a personalised greeting from the staff on the deck, where you are lead to the main lounge area and served an amazing fruit coctail. The check-in was super efficient, informative and well organised. The rooms are simplistic yet charming, spacious and kept impecabbly by the housekeeping staff. The food was in total abundance, delicious and appetizing. The dive centre is exceptionally well planned and organised - What a pleasure. What can one say about the diving that leaves one speachless. The best dives I have ever done in one of the most unique reefs - unspoilt, well conserved and a true gem in the world of Scuba-divers. Just sad that some diving photographers are so concerned with taking the perfect picture that they forget to take care of where they touch and kick. Overall Sipadan Water Village offers good value for money and an experience that is worth writing home about. A massive congratulations goes to the Management and staff at SWV for their exceptional friendliness, courtesy, efficiency and making my holiday a very memorable experience. I highly reccommend this resort for a unique diving holiday.

Photos of resort are misleading. Huge oil derrick 1/2 mile off shore. Newer, and nicer looking over water resort built next door. And, unfortunately, a refugee camp on the beach adjacent to the resort. There for 8 nights in Jr. Room by the dive shop. You share a balcony w/ room next door, so be sure to know your neighbor. Noise from refugee camp started at 5 am everyday. Beach is littered w/ garbage and human waste. You can't swim by any of the rooms due to the boat traffic from the shore. Huge pidgeon problem in many of the rooms, as they have nested in the eaves. Dive shop well run. Diving was superb. Water is 85 degrees. Saw hundreds of turtles, or at least felt that way. Food was buffet style and superb. They cook for Americans, Aussies, Japanese and Malaysians, so the food is quite varied. Some in our group didn't like the food, but we thought is was excellent. Bar is so-so. Need a better drink list. Walked around the island - 20 minutes. 4 resorts on the island. Two land based, and 2 over water. The sipidan-mabul resort looked quite nice. Make sure you book a room NOT facing the shore. Probably would not return to this resort, but would return to the island.

We did a land/dive trip to Borneo. Spent one week in the rain forest and then one week of diving. Phenomenal trip! (See my review on the Borneo Rain Forest.) We learned about diving Sipadan from a friend who lives in Kuala Lumpur. She has been diving in all areas in Malaysia and Indonesia. She said that Sipadan is her favorites because of the fish life. She was right! I counted 24 sharks and 30 turtles on one dive! We stayed at the Sipadan Water Resort and could not have had a better time. They took excellent care of us and our gear. Top notch dive facility. The place was very clean, clean rooms, clean towels/linens, hot water, electricity and good food. Also great bar with very cold beer. Only no air conditioning. However, with the walls opening up to the gulf you don't need ac. Well worth it!
