Back in the day,Outspan was a force to reckon with,no other establishment in the locality was as good as this one.It is set in expansive serene grounds and everything about it spells history. However that is where the compliments end.Everything else has gone down, poor service, mediocre food.Absolutely no value for money.Unless things turn around, the old glory will be long gone very soon.

What can I say about outspan? It's very beautiful. It has amazing architecture, original furniture and it's surroundings are amazing.
Unfortunately that's where the amazing ends. Food is sub-standard and takes up to 1 hour to get onto the table-they were pretty simple meals but took forever. The service was less than stellar; we returned a pot of Milo and got it back 40 mins later. The bill took forever to get to the table so I went and got it from the source.
Another strange thing is if you are not staying in the hotel or eating the buffet you can't be served in the dinning room, so you end up eating on the couch near the fireplace or at the bar-where the beautiful furniture has not been updated in a while.
I would not recommend outspan due to service and food, considering how beautiful it is, that's very dissapointing

Sitting outside in the patio with the beautiful park in front f you is really an enjoyable moment. Neither the service or the food is worth a journey, but if you are hungry and passing by it is absolutley no mistake to take a break here.
One certainly gets the impression that the place has passed its peak.

This hotel was built in the 1920'ies, and has an atmosphere of history.

The hotel is placed in a big park. The buildings and the rooms are magnificent. There is a big terrace overviewing Mount Kenya.

The Boy Scout founder Sir Baden Powell lived here the last years of his life and is buried in Nyeri. Queen Elisabeth and many other royalties have stayed here.
