Great choice in old Bukhara

Review of Minzifa Hotel
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 7 Oct 2024
Stayed here for two nights in September 2024.

Pros:
1) The room decor is exceptional.
2) The rooms and bathrooms are clean and spacious.
3) The front desk is manned 24 hours and the staff spoke excellent English.
4) The location is great. It is a 2 to 5 min walk to the heart of Bukhara. Almost all sites can be visited on foot.
5) The place is quiet at night and the sleep quality was great.
6) There are plenty of restaurants within a 5 min walk
7) The breakfast is served reasonably early (7:30 am) and the spread was great with a lot of vegetarian choices.
8) The WIFI was free with great speed and connectivity
9) The tariff was reasonable.

Cons:
1) The hotel is short on parking space. But that is true for all hotels in the core area.

We stayed in this beautiful boutique hotel for four nights. The inner courtyards are nice places to unwind. We had a charming room with lots of historical details. The breakfast was great. The staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay!

Staying here was an absolutely amazing experience. They have 2 different kinds of courtyards with each their own style of rooms. The rooms in the wooden building have an amazing interior. My wife and I are both rough sleepers and sensitive to heat; the staff was so kind to listen to our worries and even changed a room (for free) in order to have sufficient airco and sleeping space. In other words: the staff really went the extra mile! They were always available and even provided an extra for my birthday (even though I only mentioned it accidentally). Moreover, the location is very close to the city center yet still very well tucked away in a nice enclosure. We’ll definitely stay here again if we’ll be back in Bukhara! Heck, these guys are one of the reasons we want to come back to Bukhara. The staff is one of the friendliest we’ve ever met. In short, highly recommended!

I will be honest: I didn't like this hotel. Maybe I had bad luck but on arriving in the late afternoon (tired and hot as it was 40 degrees outside) I got a room in the madrassa part of the building. The room was tiny, dark and unpleasant and not decorated. Most of the pictures here and on the website show the nice decorated rooms in the other parts of the hotel).
My tour agent managed to get me a better room for the next 3 nights. But in that room the cupboard had no shelfs to put my clothes on.
There are also no safes in the rooms.

The quality of the breakfast was good. The two boys who worked there were very friendly, just like the cleaning staff.

Room tip: When you book make sure you get a room in the nice bit of the hotel.

Minzifa travel agency organized private tours of Bukhara and Samarkand for my elderly parents in law who were absolutely blown away not only by the beauty of both cities, but above all by the quality of the experience. Both guides (Nuriddin in Bukhara, and Rayhona in Samarkand) were very knowledgeable about the history and art, ran the tours in a very interesting and interactive way, adjusted the pace and the itinerary according to the mobility levels and interests of my parents in law. They enjoyed every minute and every detail of their guided tours and would highly recommend the services of the Minzifa travel agency.

Minzifa hotel welcomed me and my friend really warmly, Nargiza is very friendly and helpful. The decor of the hotel is beautiful, a continuity of the beauty of Bukhara inside your room - and the breakfast was lovely. We also took a guided tour organised by the hotel, highly recommend it - informative and fun!
