We stayed at Mount Gahinga Lodge as a part of a two week trip throughout Western Uganda and out of all the lodges we stayed at Mount Gahinga was by far the most beautiful and accommodating. The staff there were unparalleled in their kindness and humor and the amenities (free massage!) are incredible. It is within walking distance of the National park entrance so there is no shortage of activities to do while you are visiting. The food at Mount Gahinga was also the best of the whole trip. My family was obsessed with their french fries and the chef was kind enough to make them some even when they were not on the menu.
The hotel itself is also beautiful with a patio that looks out to the lush and imposing Virunga volcano chain on the border of Uganda and Rwanda. Another highlight was speaking with the Batwa community liaison who manages the non-profit side of the hotel that works on a community development project in partnership with the local community that was displaced by the creation of the national park. The road up to the lodge is one of the bumpier ones we experienced on our trip but it was more than worth it for our spectacular stay, my only complaint is that we didn't stay for a longer period of time!
Thank you to the incredible staff who made our stay unforgettable!More
