“Peaceful during evening”
Review of Wat Trapang Ngoen

Ranked #17 of 33 things to do in Sukhothai

Wat Trapang Ngoen, imo it is the lesser visit Wat within the main zone of Sukhothai Historical Park because of its location and not well-known as Wat Mahathat and Wat Si Sawai. I visited this Wat during evening, I am the only one at the temple and I found it is very peaceful where you can listen to all the birdy chipping returning to their homes.

Wat Trapang Ngoen is located next to the lake and rubber trees. Views during sunset gave the different views compared to Wat Sa Si. You can enjoy the reflections of the opposite views at the lake.

There is really nothing noteworthy about this temple ruin, other than the fact it is included with admission to the Sukhothai Historical Park so you may as well take a look at it as you walk by.

Wat Trapang Ngoen is the next Wat after Wat Si Sawai, opposite the lake and it houses a smaller Buddha on the top of the shrine and a Peaceful Sitting Buddha at the Ruins of the Wat.

It's nothing noteworthy as it is a smaller scale of Wat Mahathat but it is located in the central zone but so will pass it without remembering doing so. The cute little standing figure it wearing a cape which is a bit different but it's largely unremarkable.

OTHER TIPS FOR SUKHOTHAI
- Sunscreen is essential as you will almost certainly get burned without it
- Water is essential and isn’t actually readily locatable as there are few shops between the temples (A welcome change from other SE countries to be honest)
- Considering coming early in the day to avoid the various tourist buses. They will represent a problem mainly in the central zones as you won’t find anyone in the Western zones and few in the northern zone apart from at Wat Si Chum.
- Make sure you hire bikes; it’s too far to walk and they are good fun.
- Bring your camera and probably another battery as you will take plenty of pictures

Easy to visit because it's in the main park. Pretty location & nice Buddha, as well as the smaller statue to the right of the temple.
