Baan Tawan Resort is not really a resort but a small motel set down a dirt lane from the main street. The rooms are new, clean and spacious with really nice bathrooms. Each room has a front porch with a table and chairs, where breakfast is served. The location is convenient. It's a short walk to the Mekong River, the market, and the evening food stalls. The people who run the place are sweet and friendly. There are also two cute puppies on the property, King and Kong. The bed was extra firm and it would have been comfortable if not for the feeling of the springs coming through. My friend was in a different room and his bed did not have the problem. They could remedy the situation by putting a pad on top of the springy mattress. Other than that, it was a great place to stay. If I come back to Nong Khai, I will stay there again.
