“Great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 June 2012

We came to just snorkel so the location was great! The rooms are very rustic and we had room #8 which was under another room and there is no insullation so it was very loud. Also the breakfast isn't great, but otherwise it is very charming place . You can walk to town easily. They have all the snorkeling gear and towels there for you too.

Very cosy, unique and beautiful villas, with a fantastic sense of contact with nature!
Diving is incredible, but everyday snorkeling is enough for seeing all amazing fish within a reach of your hand. There are two rafts floating in the ocean near the beach, great for sunbathing)
There is also a tasty restaurant at the hotel, good quality and romantic!
The local spa is very well known for best massage in Koh Tao

The hotel is nice and special with it's little huts and the great private bay, but it needs some rework. The rooms are clean and you find there everything you need, but the smell in the rooms reminds a bit of old museums. Service in the hotel as well as restaurants and bars is very good, also the location is perfect if you don't want to be too far from restaurants and bars or shopping possibilities - you can easily walk to the main bay and village in Koh Tao in 10 minutes (even at night because there are lights everywhere on the walkway to/from town). We were not amazed by this hotel due to the high price we paid (€65/night) despite the fact that if was off season - we expected more and better quality and we have seen nicer hotels in the area with a much better price/quality value.

A friend and I stayed here for 3 nights. We got massages everyday, enjoyed the wonderful breakfast buffet every morning, laid out on the private beach, and enjoyed lots of Thai beer. We had the most beautiful view from our balcony. It was clean and service was great. Will return to visit.

We booked in to Charm Churee for four nights in June after reading all the positive reviews and found the place to be average to good rather than the magnificent we'd expected. The GOOD: Yes the huts are spread over the site amidst trees, boulders etc. there is a private cove with beautiful view..mind you most of mae haad has beautiful free beaches and its quiet at this time of year. There is a restaurant with a great view but the food is pricey and not as good as the other beachfront restaurants we ate at in Mae Haad. There is a dive school..it's 3000 baht more expensive than Elsewhere on the islAnd for padi open water. There is wifi in some areas but they try to charge extra for it. Small details but unfortunately for us the not so good outweighed the good and we spent our final night elsewhere, where the service was pleasant and the room actually less expensive!
unless you are staying in one of the top priced cabins dont expect particularly good service.
We were largely ignored after checking in, in fact left to find our cabin for ourselves. This was odd as elsewhere in thailand at the same price level (and lower) people say hi as they pass you. the effect of the eco resort is also little marred by the cables and water pipes to each being clearly visible. picky picky you may say..but there were multiple details like this that were just not quite right including no ability to sort recycling in an Eco resort, some cabins have staff cleaning material cupboards underneath so expect an early waking by folk catching up, if you have one of these. Avoid cabin 40 if you are a light sleeper.

Room Tip: Avoid room 40
