We are staying here for 5 days now in the family room ( 5 meters from the beach, 4 beds, fan, 1800 baht/ night). Its basic and the matrasses are typical thai, but it's clean and the atmosphere is very chill.
The people at the restaurant are very friendly and helpfull. The food is the same standard as the rest of the island and its run by a Burmese family ( for real Thai food there are 2 nice restaurants nearby). We had no problems with the reception ( see other reviews) and no troubles with money etc. But if so i will update the review.
This is - without any doubt - the best place in the bay next to the beach (with or without kids). If you like snorkeling its better to go to shark bay ( not in walking distance)

Our appartment was infested with fighting rats (!!!) But if that wasn't enough, the managerin was a) extremely unfriendly (i quote her: "shut up now!")  b) practically told us that we were lying and c) that we were just wasting her time. Unfortunately we didn't read any of the reviews before checking in because we booked it on arrival. If we had done just that we would have been smarter to stay away in the first place. Now we've had to pay our stay in advance and she wouldn't even give us back our money when we checked out 2 days early. Read the other reviews on this accommodation, inform yourself about the motorcycle scams (we met people who had it happen to them just that day!) and then do the smart thing and STAY AWAY from these scammers (big fish and big bubble).

Don't book this hotel. Money is the only thing that counts, you have to pay for everything.
Problem is that you have to pay in advance so you can not do anything anymore afterwards, the staff is not friendly and when you have a comment, they do not take it serious.
The rooms are only cleaned after 3 days, this information was not given nor indicated.

The room are overpriced and my sheet was not clean. The woman manager is unfriendly and talk to you only about money. Never one smile, and rude with her employees. Wifi is not free. Restaurant is overpriced also. The only good point is the inner garden with tropical trees and the direct view on the beach.

I wonder if the staff at this place ever read the reviews people put onto TA! We echo much of what has been said by others. The setting is grand, the rooms basic but fine. Plenty of hot water and the only place we had a choice of two movie channels in English. It was also the only place they wanted paying for wifi, (don't pay - almost all the cafes offer free wifi), and the only place with staff who would act as though you weren't there! We stayed for a week, and right up to our departure the staff never once smiled or said "Hello" to us - and frequently didn't respond when we said it - even though we were using their language! We've travelled a lot in Thailand over the years and this attitude is so atypical. As is their strange way of charging - we suspect that they look at you and make up a number! It's as if they don't expect people to chat to each other, comparing rates. However, if you accept that that's how they are, the setting is very good.

Room Tip: Not a tip about the room, but if you need any tickets or advice about travel plans, we strongly reccomend the girl at Namhasin travel. She speaks very good English and is very competent. It's on the "main road", about a 5 minute walk from the Seven 11, walking away from the sea, on the corner of the road to Shark Bay.
