“Great Location and view”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 December 2011

Again with this hotel I read some very mixed reviews but read that the location was good so decided to give it a go.
Arriving at PhiPhi and on the trip to phiphi we were blown away by the scenery. Arriving at the port a longtail boat picks you up and will take you to the hotel.
At checkin we were greeted off the boat with fresh fruit drinks but the staff were a little rude to some guests and not very accommodating. One guest had booked with a local thai website and the hotel didn't have their booking. They asked what to do now and reception didn't seem to care even though they had a young child. However i later checked the website they booked on and noticed that they don't take accept credit card details and I can understand that the hotel probably didn't authorise them to take bookings for them. However I would have expected the hotel would contact the guests before and ask for card details but the lack of english is probably a reason why this didn't happen.

However our experience was good, a gentleman carried our bags up the steep hill (older or unfit people beware) to our sea / bay view cabin and we were blown away by the view. It was incredible with loungers out on the balcony but the view was brilliant especially for the amount we were paying. The room was a wooden cabin type interior inside with a fan and aircon and it had a 32" lcd tv with a decent amount of channels. Breakfast was included and each morning you could have you eggs cooked fresh for you the way you liked and eat directly on the beach. Bayview is located at the end of the beach so its very private, we also ate at the hotel restaurant one night and it was good quality with the waves almost touching our feet eating at the seafront.
We had 3 nights left unbooked anywhere at the end of our holiday and stayed initially for 3 nights at bayview and liked it so much that we decided to return to phiphi and bayview after our 3 nights in aonang.
I almost forgot to mention the poolbar, after arriving we went for a swim and had the pleasure of enjoying beer sitting underwater and happyhour runs for about 5 - 7pm so you get 2 beers for the price of 1 and we made use of that every evening.
They like to play love music allot at the pool which added to the whole tropical feel and the bar staff were also very friendly.

I mentioned at the start that reception staff can be hit and miss. The manager a short well built woman seemed to have the more aggressive type manner when guests complained but i did notice that she warmed towards us after a few days and especially when she seen that we liked the place and rebooked for extra nights. She actually was giving us smiles by the end of the week. If your going on a long boat trip shop around down the village as we got a longtail trip for 25% of the hotel price after we bargained.

Overall i recommend this hotel and recommend it to couples looking for a romantic time, i would go for a room with a sea view to make it extra special.

Room Tip: Go for the sea view

Rooms: Big, but a bit out-dated which I don't mind. The bathrooms aren't too good (and its odd that there is a big window looking into the bathroom, but a curtain too to cover it). The size was more than we would ever need which is nice. They do have some nice touches like included flashlights so you can walk on the beach at night, umbrellas, and plug-in mosquito repellent.

Location: Excellent! I did not want to be right in Phi Phi, but close enough to get there whenever I wanted and Bayview offered just that. Plus the place is beachfront with long-tail boat taxis all over.

Value: Do NOT get the grand deluxe. Not because they aren't good, but because they really aren't that special compared to the other rooms. Besides, you shouldn't come to Phi Phi to just stay in your room the whole time. We rarely got to enjoy the view from the room as we were too busy enjoying boat rides, snorkeling or the town!

Would I come back? I'd probably try a few different places. I wasn't impressed, but it wasn't bad either...it was OK.

Read many mixed reviews of this resort, but that seems to be the case for most on koh phi phi.

On the positive side - the room was large and had lots of storage space. The location is good too - close enough to walk into the central tonsai part, but far enough away that you can get some sleep. Views from the balcony were amazing.
On the negative side - the room did not feel very clean at all and looked pretty shabby and tired. The sheets on my bed were stained. The air con didn't work properly and it was incredibly hot. We didn't have any hot water either - although it was a way of cooling down at least from the sauna-like bedroom! Staff were generally unhelpful and not particularly friendly. Breakfast was average. The one lunch we had at the resort was pretty poor and service was slow.

All in all - I felt it was pretty average. A beautiful island, but this place didn't really live up to it. Of all the places I stayed on my trip to Thailand this was by no means the cheapest, but definitely the worst. I get the impression that Phi Phi isn't great value for money in general but a bit more of a personal service and a clean room with working air con would have make a start.

We stayed for 5 nights 21/11/11. We booked basic room and it was value for money. The views from balcony were fantastic. The room was basic but very clean, comfortable bed. The room was cleaned to a high standard daily.
Breakfast was average but we did not go hungery.
Only gave 1 sachet of coffee a day each in room, thought they could have left more than this.
The walk from reception to room was steep but good exercise.
The pool was clean with pool towels, we had lunch at poolside which was delicous. Nothing was a problem and all staff happy to help you.
There was a coastal path along to viking nature resort and further along to long beach. This was not a walk for the unfit. You can walk along the beach and rocks at low tide.
Overall we had a very pleasant stay at this hotel.

We stayed at the hotel from 6-12 August 2011. The hotel was good, rooms are clean and comfortable, equipped with AC and ceiling van. Shower always had hot water when AC was running. Delicisious food, fresh sea catch. Attentive waitresses. Staff was very helpful. I could not sleep the 1st night due to the noice from disco music during fire shows. During the 2nd night I probably got used to the noise, and slept better. The receptionist gave us other rooms in the far end of the hotel, but we changed our minds and didn't move. I had to use ear plugs at nights. The beach is rather shallow. I didn't like the low roar of power generator near the restaurant on the beach, and the smell from drain pool near it. If you want romantic walks on the beach under the moon and listen to the waves, forget it!

The beach and island are pretty dirty. My girlfriend even got cut her elbow by the glass in the sand!

Apart from that, I would recommend the hotel for a stay.
A tip: if you go into town by the beach, you can find more cafes and restaurants with cheaper prices for food.
