Simply super sight to watch the best in Kodai kanal. Take a binocular device with you or even a telescope will be good. The Pillar rock is a amazing sight to see and through a telescope it is even awesome to watch.

Nice view. But unfortunately the telescope was a hand made one and you can barely see the cross which the hawkers will charge you for to see. The garden adjacent to the point was beautiful with a variety of flowers lined up. Beware of the monkey attacks!

This is definitely not the time of year to go. We walked the 8km to find we couldn't see the pillars at all due to the clouds covering them. Also, it is a hawkers paradise, full of Indian tourists barging you left and right and many monkeys trying to steal your food. Waste of time as its too touristy.

This is a natural wonder!
After all your travails in reaching this place - particularly during the crowded tourist season - if the mists play spoil sport and hide your view, patiently wait for it to clear up. In a few minutes it might clear up and, lo! you get to see a majestic rock in the shape of a pillar!!
Best time to see it is during the non-tourist season.
For Indians living in plains it would evoke a "Wow!".
For foreigners coming from lush green (or snow white) mountainous countries, it might (inwardly, in all likelihood, as the white folks are very polite) evoke a "Bah!!".
