“Deeg Palace”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 September 2011

Awesome Place, especially for architecture lovers like myself, with plush fountains, lavish gardens, beautiful buildings to get yourself clicked, and an entire building from the mughal era which was brought here from the agra fort as booty, along with the white marble swing of Noorjehan. A delight and a must visit place and fort if you are going to bharatpur .....

“hidden gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 February 2011

Not a lot of people seem to find Deeg - it is between Agra and Jaipur, near Bharatpur. Visitors go to Agra and Jaipur - whilst a few particularly interested in the nature reserve get to Bharatpur

Deeg feels as if you have gone back to the days of the Raj. You can imagine Mountbatten sitting with the Maharajar. It still has a lots of the old furniture and the ceiling fans are in place. Make sure they show you the fan machine

“Deeg palaces”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 March 2010

Known as water palaces of deeg, built by the hindu king, Surajmal in post Mughal area
Situated between two man made lakes. The main palace, is an exquisit architecture.
It look from the a four storied structue from the lake side. Using the slope of the lake makes it twostoreyed from the sides and single story from the front . The other palace has a huge water tank on the top. Size of of a football field. The pipelines carry water to the fountains below
It is said that colour was added in the pipes at this tank in such a way a different colour fountain were sprouted. The mechanism to lift the water to the tank can also be seen

In another structue huge hollow metalic balls were placed in the tank and as the water
spiraled down the walls of the bulding they created sounds of thunder

Over all a very intersting place to see.
