“Great place, small, bad bikes”
Reviewed 27 February 2012

Go early in the morning to avoid the crowds. Get a guide (not expensive) to really get to know the park. It's not to big and with a guide you get off the beaten tracks. The bikes they have for rent (only 40 rps) are really bad ones, but they'll get you around.

“Tranquility ....”
Reviewed 24 February 2012

Very tranquil, quiet, bucolic scenery. The peacefulness of this park is wonderful--an oasis amidst the more common chaos of India. I love that chaos and activity, but one needs a respite sometimes. This park is a place to find it.

However...we ddi not see many birds. I am not a "birder" so this didnt matter, but if i were, might have had different reaction.

We took a bicycle rickshaw and the driver pointed out birds and animals. I don't know if taking one of the official guides would have led to more sightings.

Away from the park, turing into it from the highway, the town of Bharatpur itself is unattractive and dusty. Unless you are "into"birds, i would NOT recommend a special trip here--maybe just an hour on the way between Agra and Jaipur, if you need to break up the trip.

They use bicycle rickshaws to get you around the park. This is both good and bad. SOmetimes you just want to walk. Lots of flora and fauna. I liked it.

“World-class bird experience”
Reviewed 22 February 2012

Lots of birds in peaceful surroundings, ideal for hiking, although most visitors uses ritchaws. Many good local guides, essential for your success in the rarer species such as owls and nightjars, wetlands birds are now all over as the area from 2011 is flooded.

“The World famous reserve is getting wet again”
Reviewed 22 February 2012

Also known ad Keoladeo Ghana, the "Bharatpur" is among the best known bird sanctuaries in the World. Following some dry years with few of the breeding wetland birds, the area is from 2011 artificially flooded and offers good conditions for a large numbers of birds, in relatively peaceful surroundings, as no motor vehicles are inside this great park.
