It is no less than a India Pakistan cricket match and trust me the excitement was equally electrifying.

You can get transport easily available from Jalianwala bagh and as you know that time to be there is in the evening when the parade starts. Try to reach there at least one hour before to grab the best seats. You won't be sitting for long however, but you would still like a better closer view.

Life time experience and something that will make you feel very proud being there is "The Unity" of the country.

Personal request: Please avoid negative slogans for Pakistan. No one is going to shoot you, but you never know. :)

Thank Mit B

The adventure itself already started when my friend and me were looking for transport to Wagah Border which is located approx 30 km from Amritsar city center. A lot of offers were made to us in open street in the city center. You can be sure to get transport even only 2,5 hours before the ceremony at Wagah Border at 6 pm starts.
This is how we came to share an Autorikshaw with another 10 people which was great fun. Like this we did not only get to see some of the landscape but also came in touch with really nice Punjabi people. Highly recommended if one likes travelling local style ;-)
When arriving to the border we had to walk approx 700 meters till reaching the main point. Here we immediately were taken care of by one of the Indian soldiers who showed us the Q for foreigners which (weirdly) is a separate one. We did not have to wait for even a minute until we were led into the "arena" itself. We reached there at 5 pm and had to wait 1,25 hours till the real ceremony started in the plane sun which was very very hot. So one recommendation: take water and sun blocker with you! Also do not come too late since seats are limited and a lot of people did not have comfortable seating for the pretty long ceremony.
The time waiting was bridged by some entertaining activities which was fun. The ceremony itself was something totally new to me and interesting. It is absolutly worth going!! Enjoy ;-)

Really enjoyed this display of border ceremony and rivalry between India and Pakistan. The whole thing is more about the rivalry and who makes more noise en music that the actual ceremony of the flags.
