“Good Entertainment”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 April 2012

The trip out to the ceremony can be organised by almost anyone you come across, however it is far enough away to require a visit by car. Do not go too early as you will be sitting around on the concrete steps for quite a while anyway.
Take your passport as this entitles you to use the V.i.P queue. Ladies, who are searched separately from the men should NOT take handbags as you will be sent back with entry being refused, no exceptions.
Your taxi will park about 10 mins from the first checkpoint, the first of many. You may hear people cheering and think you have missed out, but this is just a compere who raises the crowd way before the ceremony.
This is a good natured banter ceremony between nations at a controlled border point and provides good entertainment; which is put on early enough in the evening so you can still go back to town and have dinner.

“The modrnised border post is a big step backwards”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 April 2012

The Indian side of the border crossing now boasts a huge new passenger facility, which is way oversized for the number of people who cross. Worse, it is now necessary to take a bus to the border which means an extensive wait. Overall it has added at least half an hour to the border crossing and not obvious what it has helped. Perhaps the authorities might like to consider opening the border a little earlier than 10.00 a.m.

“It feels great”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 April 2012

It feels great when you cross the border. It feels as you stepping in to a new world. If you are going to India from Pakistan then always go to India via road because when you go across the border the feeling cannot be expressed into words.

“. . . Interesting. . .”

This could be one of the biggest pissing contests in the world. Thousands show up to chant/shout pro India/Pakastan slogans (depending on which side you are one), and the tallest soldiers in both armies goose step their way to taking the flags down at the same time. Hilarious in a sad sort of way
