Tired and drained from the Covid fatigue, me and my family did a weekend trip to Munnar. Stepping out of the house itself was a milestone for us, given our constant and ever looming worry about being prey to this pandemic. Therefore our first and foremost concern was the safety measures taken by the hotel.

Silver tips met or rather exceeded our expectation, the hotel has ensured that all government regulated safety measure were taken such as sufficient number of sanitizers at various points for use by the guests and regular sanitizing of common areas such as door handles, bathrooms, etc.

From the lobby area onwards, we noticed the hotel staff maintaining adequate social distance and ensured that masks were worn at all times.

By the time we got to Munnar, it was around lunch time. Having driven over 5 hours none of us were in the mood for an elaborate lunch. Our aim was to hit the bed and get some shut eye before exploring Munnar. But to our surprise, the lunch options were quite elaborate and they even offered room service. This made it easy for us to drop the nap plan and switch out to a full blown food attack mode.  The food was delicious and fresh and in my opinion anybody looking for a even a stop over lunch option should definitely consider silver tips.

We are a family of movie enthusiasts, which was another reason to pick silver tips. The hotel was built on the grounds of one of the earliest movie theaters. Bearing in the mind the history of the land, the founders of the hotel have developed the space in a film/ movie based theme.

Lastly, in case you are looking for a workcation spot, the hotel is situated in Munnar town with excellent phone networks and rooms having uninterrupted wi-fi connectivity.

The hotel being centrally located makes it a good place from which one could easily visit other scenic or must visit landmarks of Munnar.

My family and I had a wonderful experience with silver tips, if we were to travel to Munnar again, we would definitely choose silver tips!

This is a must try restaurant. It is located inside the Silver Tips Hotel. We ordered Kozhi varutharacha curry chicken, palak paneer, meen peera kizhi, veg. Biriyani rice, chappathy and Kerala papadan. All dishes were simply divine. The meen peera kizhi is a must try very distinctive taste. The ambience has a traditional look to it with photos of film stars of bygone days. Service was superb. Prices are very reasonable. The best restaurant in Munnar. Highly recommended.

I did not stay here but was given the opportunity to take a tour of this hotel by the Guest Relations Officer. There is a lot of cinematography material here starting with a huge camera at he entrance (photograph below) and the rooms are themed with cinematography memorabilia. We saw some rooms and suites, room corridors and the restaurant. This is where Bollywood Stars stay when filming in the mountain tea plantations of Munnar. The hotel is located in the town of Munnar whereas most of the tourist hotels are in the mountains requiring to travel to them in jeeps due to the very poor roads.

Room tip: All we saw were of a good four star standard

We were on the way back from Kanthalloor on a Sunday and had a late lunch here. The restaurant had a decent buffet for 450 per head, where the kids eat free. It was very good considering the facilities and the location.
