Elixir Hills, the name sounded exotic, the location 12 kms away from the town centre, didn't seem far but the winding road with blind turns and bad condition made the journey longer than expected. Also as it gets pitch dark in the evening, we had to rush back to the hotel before evening.

The reception staff on arrival made us wait for half an hour as the room was not ready, at 4 pm, whereas the check in time is 1 pm. We were exhausted from a long drive from Kovalam but had to endure the wait.

The digital buttons outside the door to request for room cleaning was not functioning ( room 2002 ) so the next day again had to wait for the housekeeping staff to clean it after returning tired from sightseeing the whole day.

The only compensation for all the unnecessary waiting and irritation was the excellent service from the restaurant staff, they more than made up for all the drawbacks.

I hope they iron out the glitches as soon as possible to give a good experience to the tourists.

My 3 children and I stayed here a few nights in the first week of jan. it is quite out of the way but ideal if you want to be one with the nature. It does take about 30 mins to get through the roads damaged by the flood.
We had a fabulous room but a few things were very disappointing. When we stayed at the resort, it wasn’t sufficiently staffed during this very busy holiday period and the service didn’t live up to our expectations. For example, we couldn’t even get a coffee without being sent to several places from cafe to restaurant and finally to cafe again and still no coffee.
Food was the most disappointing part - evening meals was always buffet and very expensive and not of the best quality nor was it refreshed when food ran out. Meat dishes especially were of poor quality with barely any meat but full of bones. Although a la carte was available, kids meals took far too long to arrive.
And finally as the hotel pool is shaded by the vegetation, which is great, the pool was always full of leaves which wasn’t cleaned up regularly and the pool was too cold for the kids to use which was one of the reasons for electing to stay here. Maybe should consider heating it during certain periods?

I am sure during less busy periods it would be a great place to stay.
