Old Goa is a large area in which one can find several very architecturally interesting religious buildings stemming from the 1600's

“Lovely Old Goa”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 January 2012

Taxi from Candolim to old Goa for a cultural injection. Walked around the museum which was pennies to get in. Some interesting stuff in there and it kept us quiet for 30 minutes. We then wandered into the church of St Francis of Assisi which was old and lovely, not allowed to take photos though. As you walk to the cathedral you can see a little cafe on the right in the park. It was a welcome relief having a shaded coffee. The cathedral was quiet and lovely. We then went over to the Bom Jesus Basilica and there was a service on which was lovely.
All in all a beautiful place and a great way to kill a couple of hours. Top up on your factor 30 though, there's not a lot of shade there.

If you like ecclesiastical heritage, Old Goa is a paradise. It is full of churches, cathedrals, basilicas and old buildings from the Portugese area. great for a historic day out.

“Lovely churches in a tropical paradise”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 January 2012

Old Goa was amazing, did not expect to see such beautiful old churches in India. A hugh white chruch across the stree from a beautiful black church with an even older chruch in ruins right beside that. All together it is an amazing sight and as we explored each the individual beauty of each showed itself.
Busy most days but esp on Sunday or holidays as the local Goan Christians flock to these beautiful churchs to celebrate mass.
Worth a visit to see the children dressed in their Sunday best.
