“NIGHTMARE OF GOA”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 February 2012

I had the misfortune of booking this hotel for 3 nights commencng 6/12/2011. This hotel has a very nice pre-view placed in the net which attracted fools like me to opt. The floors are dirty and of the stone era, bath roms are not approachable. Every so called furniture are like concrete cemetry placed in the living room or like the Portugese Prison Cell comfort, Balcony has damaged / corrosive iron chairs spread along. Within one hour of check in, I could locate a decent hotel elsewhere and moved out with my wife. Dot Com.Companies should ensure that they black list these hotels who do not conform to living standards of tyhe people. Some of these hotels do not have any rating which they claim to be. Finally my travel company has returned my money after realizing the fact. Even in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and the other parts of the Gulf Countries, one can get a decent hotel room (3 star rating) for as low as Dhs.80 -100 per day inclusive of fabulas breakfast and news paper, fruit baskets, bath rooms with hot water for 24 hours, mineral water, coffee/tea maker and consumables, etc.

Room Tip: Higher floors have less A/C unit noise

It could be a very nice place where to stay, but everything is dirty. All these people around have no idea how to keep thing a bit clean. Bathroom was dirty, room carpet was dirty, towel, bedsheets...and it could really be an amazing place.
And Rs 2000 per night is not even really cheap...breakfast also with only 2 Indian items. How is that possible with so many foreigner around ?? Please take care of your Hotel...it could be very nice...

Room Tip: I think the one on the entrance side on second floor should be better

The hotel is fairly well located just off Campal, within walking distance of Miramar Beach. The rooms are comfortable and fairly well appointed, but lacking in furniture, all the present furniture being made of concrete and built-in and immovable. The fixtures are badly maintained and the outlets in the bathroom did not drain easily. The service in the restaurant was willing but not even 10% of the items on the menu were available. In the morning, when I called for tea at 6.30 AM, I was answered after many minutes, by a sleepy voice who told me to call back after 7.30AM. At 7 AM, when we wanted to check out, the reception was deserted and no one available. We finally woke up the night-watchman and gave him the key. Fortunately the room was prepaid. The parking was in a volleyball court with about 6 inches of sand and the car got stuck. This hotel is avoidable.

Considering the rate of rooms per night i would say the hotel is excellent and entirely adequate. Frankly I loved this property the owner has put his heart and soul in designing the rooms, the lobby, the restaurant. This hotel had a unique concept " RUSTIC".
The floors were rustic kota stone, the rooms too has rough flooring, the beds are not made of wood and nor any furniture is made of wood, they are of course made of bricks, the rooms are pretty large and spacious plus with an attached terrace/balcony. The curtains are of jute and curtain rods are made of wood. you would find that there are a lot of small detailing done in this hotel, however hygeine is very poor, the hotel is understaffed and dusty in most places, shower curtains are horrible. we had to request them to remove the shower curtains and wash the toilet floor.
the good thing is its location close to miramar beach and the casino. food at the hotel is quick and pretty good. Over all not a bad hotel if you are a budget traveller.

I had booked a hotel called 'Hotel Viva International Goa' through Travelguru for 5 nights stay, based on their excellent reviews.

Turns out the hotel was very sub-standard, the bathroom was stinking and cockroaches running all over the place. This hotel had no idea about customer service and I had no choice but to check out the next day.

When I asked Travelguru for a refund for the remaining nights of stay, they have refused to give it saying its last minute refund.

Do not book this hotel OR your room through Travelguru. They take entire payment and they is no guarantee that the hotel will turn out as per the ratings on their website.

Room Tip: All rooms are terrible.
