Owner description: Casino Royale is the largest floating Casino in Goa. It is definitely the most classiest. It has a gaming floor dedicated to all table games, and slots, a poker room exclusively for poker. It also has an entire dining floor with food catered by China Garden. There is live entertainment daily on the dining floor and on the sundeck (during non-monsoon months) of the ship.

Casino Royale, Goa: Anchored ship in Mandave River.

We went to casino royale, Goa on 12th Oct.2010 at around 8 p.m.. it is a ship anchored in Mandavi river. we were taken to the ship by a Jetty from beach. The ship consists of three decks with the elevator on every floor. For the utmost comfort of guest on the ground floor, there is ticket counter, waiting lounge and the kids zone. The kids zone is equipped with all kinds of toys and video games for the children and of course one LCD for those who want to see cartoons or movies. It is supervised by a skilled lady assistant who takes good care of the children while their parents are having fun at the Casino, as the children below 18 are not allowed in the Casino. On first floor, there is huge Casino with all sorts of new games for the guest and a big beautiful Bar with world class hard drinks that are served till 6 a.m. on the second floor, they have Dining hall with world class cuisine and unlimited snacks made by trained chefs. On the same floor, they have live singing and dancing programme till 12 p.m. In between they entertain their guest with international dances like Salsa, Jive, Waltz and Latin American dances by international dancers. Their on table service is unmatchable in India. We left at around 4 a.m. in the morning for our hotel with fond memories in our mind. I would definitely recommend everybody to wants to go to Goa should visit Casino royale for the actual flavor of Goa.

“Terrible experience!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 November 2010

Please don't let the fancy magazine advertisements or billboards at the airport fool you.

The cover fee alone is about 2,500 Rupees, $70 (this is just the entrance fee). To get there, you board a small boat to the Casino Royale - a decommissioned old ship. Once there - the Casino is just one floor of the boat, not the entire ship. Food is terrible and service is very slow. This ruined my Goa experience and certainly the low part of the trip.

“Goa's #1 gambling destination”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2010

With its beautiful coastlines, beaches and nightlife, Goa has been one of India's favorite tourist destinations for a long time and now with legalized gambling on offer, people have one more reason to visit this sunny state. While there are plenty of casinos on land-based properties in Goa, these are restricted to electronic gaming only. So most people who wish to experience live gaming head to the floating casinos moored on the Mandovi River.

Of the 4-5 floating casinos, Casino Royale is probably the biggest and definitely the most popular of the lot. The ship has 2 floors and a poker room on the lower level as well. The main gaming floor offers a range of table games from blackjack to roulette and they even have a craps table. Quite possibly the only craps table in any Goan casino. There are many different limits on offer across these games. Fortunately the management has had the good sense of making sure that half the floor has non-smoking tables which makes it easier for both smokers and non-smokers.
The 2nd floor is the buffet and dining area where the food is catered by China Garden. Having tasted China Garden's catering back in Bombay, I've been a bit disappointed with the kind of fare that is on offer at the buffet the last time I visited a few months ago. But apparently they are trying to sort this issue out and have even introduced a Sunday brunch recently. Will post an update on the food situation when I go there in September.

My most-visited area in Casino Royale is the poker room since that is my game of choice. Poker's popularity in the recent months has picked up tremendously in India what with tournaments like the India Poker Championship taking place there on a regular basis. The most popular game offered is No Limit Hold Em although they will put together a table for those interested in Omaha as well. I have two major gripes with the room - One, some of the service staff and those working cash cage really ought to be trained better in customer service. You might not be able to fulfill a customer's request but being unresponsive or apathetic is just rude and will drive away business. Second, the room is smoker-friendly but because of its position on the lower level (under the water level) the smoke can be bothersome especially when there are lots of players in the room which is the case on tournament weekends. I'm a smoker myself and despite that it is a matter which needs to be addressed by installing better air conditioning systems.

The entry into the casino is INR 3500/- out of which the player is given a one time play coupons of INR 2000. On all levels domestic premium alcohol is served free along with snacks. For those who prefer a proper meal the buffet is open till about 2 am. There is also the sun deck although I have never been up there. There is also a play area/creche facility for parents who wish to bring young kids along.
Overall for people in India who have never been in a casino before, gambling in Casino Royale for the first time is an experience most enjoy and perhaps even cherish. I've rarely been here on weeknights but the weekends are almost invariably packed to the rafters with punters from all over the country coming to test their luck at the tables. The place has its small flaws but nothing that cannot be sorted out with a little more attention to detail.
