Unfortunately we only stayed for one night - Afonso provides a perfect guesthouse in Panjim and on top is extremely helpful. One of us got very sick and he helped us change travel plans and did everything in order to help us out. Great guy, thank you very much again!

The Afonso Guest House is relaxed, comfortable and charming. Located in the Fontainhas area of Panjim, it has the feel of a family home with history. The rooms are airy, comfortable and immaculately clean. Jeanette is a warm and friendly hostess, and is quick to help with any questions or arrangements. She advised us well on what to expect during the Holi celebration which was a lovely surprise to experience in Panjim. Breakfast is cooked fresh to order, and served on the rooftop which has beautiful views. Order the delicious breakfast Goan bread the night before.

Afonsos is a wonderfully homely place to stay right in the picturesque old quarter of fontanhas in Panjim City. A tiny whitewashed chapel few steps away and beautifully restored Portuguese mansions all around afonsos is the perfect place to stay both for its very reasonable tarif, its enchantingly old-fashioned pension-style accommodation and the hosts Clifton and Jeanette. Always at hand to answer queries and suggest what to see and where to eat, they interact with guests with friendly professionalism and good humour. Rooms are simply furnished, cosy and meticulously clean, comfortable enough for me to be reluctant to leave even after a 10 day stay! Breakfast on the terrace above is a wonderful start to the day as one is cosseted in warm sunshine and that pleasant sensation of being on holiday as one gives in to the soft tunes piped overhead that mingle pleasantly with the trilling of birds and sounds of life going by in the lanes below. I highly recommend.

We recommend 100% Afonso Guest House. The place of this house is just perfect! In the nicest district of Panjim. Jeannette, the owner, is so nice, gives you lots of good advices! We enjoyed a lot the rooms and the house. The roof for the breakfast is very nice! Thanks again Jeannette!

This is the second time I’ve stayed at this quaint guesthouse in Panjim.
The room is lovely and clean, shower has hot water and good air conditioning but no TV or fridge.
Really well located and efficiently run with good selection of breakfast to be eaten on a sunny rooftop.
The only downside was the cab arranged by the guesthouse to take us to the airport in the early hours of the morning was one of the most dangerous journeys (even by Indian standards) I’ve ever had with the driver regularly narrowly missing partitions dividing the road due to roadworks.
Would definitely stay again.
