We didn't stay at Tranquilseas Eco Lodge, but we did frequent the dive shop and the restaurant. My husband and I stayed next door at the Mayoka Lodge and we were looking for a dive shop that was more on the intimate side (not too many divers); our hosts recommended Tranquilseas. They were spot on; Diane and James at the dive shop were wonderful! We dove almost every day for a week and the dives were incredible. We decided to upgrade our dive certifications from open water to advanced open water, and they easily accommodated this last minute request. The dive groups were relatively small (4-6 divers), just what we were looking for. We plan to return. The combination of the diving and super friendly dive masters cannot be beat!

We ate at the restaurant several times and the food and drinks were very good. The view, especially at sunset, is beautiful. The staff was very friendly and the service was good.

I cannot comment about the rooms, but we made friends with a couple staying there and they spoke very highly of their accommodations.

It has been one week since we left Tranquil Seas and I can't wait to be back. My husband and I snuck off here for our 11 year anniversary and had the most amazing time. We plan to make this an annual end of the summer tradition! We arrived in Roatan via United Airways direct from Houston and as soon as we made it through customs we were greeted with the warmest smile and hug from Darcia who took us to the lodge which was just a short and entertaining ride from the airport. We stayed in the Tree Frog cabana and plan to stay there again, the view was amazing, the cabana was private, and we loved the deck that looked over the tree tops in to the Caribbean. All the staff we met was friendly and helpful, the drinks and food were amazing and we felt very comfortable, like a home away from home, but with a much better breakfast and all the beauty and ease of the island lifestyle! Indra, the chef, made delicious meals (I recommend trying her nightly specials - we had grilled lambs chops which was a real treat one night!) and Harvey and Miquel were always on hand to make a refreshing mojito or pour a glass of wine! They also had live music two nights - once from a hip island style band and another night of soothing tunes from the local manager of the lodge Ron. James and Ti, the onsite dive support, took us on a few snorkeling outings and each time to new places. We visited 7 different reef sites on just two half day trips - they were all breathtaking - crystal clear water, millions of fish, gorgeous healthy reefs, and the occasional turtle! For a special experience, ask Ti to take you to see the sea stars! We also practiced yoga on the top deck with Michele from Roatan Yoga while we were there - a perfect bonus! The goal of our trip was to relax, snorkel, and enjoy each others company - and I'd say we accomplished that along with many unexpected joys that came with the trip - but especially our experience at Tranquil Seas - the lodge and people there made the trip for us (especially Darcia – I already miss her hug!) - I can't thank them all enough!

My wife and I had a wonderful time at Tranquil Seas diving and snorkeling. The 7 room resort is at Sandy Bay away from the crowds of West Bay. The drinks and food were great but the service was outstanding. Really warm people that want you to be relaxed and have a great time.

The place is built on a hillside so each room has a view of the water while being completely unique. The Kingcrab room we stayed in is a bit taller with a view over the pool. There is live music twice a week. The dive boat will work around your schedule and take both snorkelers and divers out. With a great reef nearby you don't need to go far to see turtles, eels, rays and other unusual fish.

Nearby there are a couple other small resorts if you get bored at eating at Tranquil Seas. There is also a spa just down the beach and Anthony's Key where you can swim with dolphins.

We went in August which is the low season with only 2 other rooms occupied.
Loved my time here.

A couple other notes:
- The wireless was fast enough to stream movies
- The reef is a long swim out but you can take a kayak and tie up at a buoy
- The mosquitos and sand fleas are ravenous every where in Roatan
- Try the Monkey Lala at the bar

We stayed in this resort for one week in August, during low season, and only 2-3 of the 5 rooms were booked. However, even if there was no buffet for lunch or dinner, as posted in the hotel description, we could choose from the menu card whatever we liked and as much as we liked. Good quality and nice presentation. Superb !!! (The following week we stayed in Utila in Laguna Beach Resort and there you really felt the low season because food choice and quantity was not more than average.)
We want to mention especially DARCIA, the house-angel, who really took care of us like a mother, and who was always there for us whenever we had questions or had to arrange anything. Thank you Darcia!!!
The rest of the staff, Marlon, Harvey, Miguel were nice, friendly and competent waiters and the chef-cook (sorry, I forgot your name) was doing her job at her best. Even special wishes were fulfilled. (Your calamaris were wonderful!!!) Thanks!
James, our dive guide, is a flexible, experienced and friendly guy who always tried to find the best dive sites for us and to show us interesting underwater stuff.
Diving itself is nice as you have a lot of canyons, small caves and swim-throughs. Not the place for big stuff, but turtles, green moray eels, crayfishes, morays and hell a lot of interesting macro stuff.
The dive boats are not the biggest I've seen, but as you dive in small groups (max 6 pers. or sometimes even alone with James), it's absolutely okay.
Even during low season, every second evening, you get some sort of entertainment, be it a small band playing country music, a 'fire-dancer' or a (competent) guy who makes an interesting exposé about the reeflife.
Thanks to everyone for the nice experience. We'll be back soon !!!

We stayed up the road, which was nice, but for a low-key relaxing experience without the bustle of the big resorts....this is the ultimate gem of the Caribbean. James and Kerry made the diving and snorkeling experience for all of us...the staff is second to none....always a smile, helpful (Marlin and Miguel--super people), and the cook...you can't eat any better on this island. Fantastic food, whether it is breakfast, lunch or supper. We literally spent most of our time here....beautiful lodge, pool, restaurant, dock, dive center, training center, and at times live music on the main deck...The rooms we toured, were unique, clean, and extremely rustic, with fabulous views. Fantastic...loved it.

Room Tip: Best to plan ahead, as rooms are limited-family suites, small family, to romantic couple suites, all with decks-tiered overlook.
