Doesn't look like much from the outside, but go in and be amazed by what you see on the Alter (picture attached). Light a candle while you're there!

The size of the Varaždin cathedral is not very large but nevertheless, the temple is very nice and attractive. It’s a single nave church in baroque style, built in the middle of the seventeenth century by the jesuit order.
The pink colour façade is rather sober. The early baroque portal bears the coat of arms of the Drašković family. There are two small and artistic windows on each side of the entrance at the same height as the niche containing a statue of the Virgin. At a lower level there are four other niches, two on each side of the portal, with statues of saints. The whole is rather eyes catching. Besides, the belfry tower, built some thirty years later than the main building, is beautiful. It’s square shaped and in its last section under the top there are four clocks, one on each and every side thereof.
The interior is bright and gay. The walls are white painted with the exception of those of two side chapels, one of which is pink colour with white baroque stuccoes and the other is grey with gilt stuccoes. Besides, there are some other ornaments consisting of frescoes and woodcarvings. The high altar and the chancel are richly decorated with a profusion of statues of saints and columns thus forming an excellent ensemble. In it the painting of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is really beautiful and outstanding. Gilt and marble are present in many parts of the said chancel. Other interesting and artistic parts of the church are the pulpit, the organ and some side chapels where beautiful statues can be contemplated, such as those of St. Joseph and of St. Sebastian.
Owing to the beauty of the place and the marvels housed in it the opportunity to visit that temple shouldn’t be missed while in Varaždin.

This church is not only Cathedral, but also the most attractive concert hall in Varazdin. Rich baroque decorations inside is only one part of solemn atmosphere - the other part comes from organ or even an orchestra, when Baroque evenings, international music festival, are in progress.
