Hvar is simply beautiful. Hotel Podstine is situated in a wonderful position to enjoy a little piece of paradise. We stayed 5 nights last month, September 2016.
Our room was upgraded to a balcony and side view of the sea. The room 202 was spacious, with plenty of wardrobe and shelf space, and a refrigerator well stocked with drinks.
Excellent shower and toilet, effective quiet air conditioning, and a small balcony.
Everything was spotlessly clean with frequent change of towels and sheets, and beach towels changed when required by a pleasant and helpful reception.
The outside terraced dining facilities overlook the sea - ideal for a romantic meal, and the charming head waiter helps guide you through the hotel's superb menu - especially 'catch of the day' when the fish (rather expensive) is charcoal grilled and really is 'fresh'.
Hvar is a superb 20 minute scenic walk away, or 100 kn by taxi (aprox £12) when returning late evening after drinking a few bottles of Croation wine.
Hvar is a spectacular, vibrant, buzzing city. A busy interesting port, surrounded by restaurants, with a backdrop of mountains and a magnificent fortress. There is every type of water sport available with sailing instruction, speed boats for hire, and a scuba diving club attached to Podstine Hotel. Hvar is one of a group of small Islands a pleasant cruise away, and for me the sheer beauty and diversity of both Hvar and Split make them top spots for a European holiday.
Hotel Podstine is exclusive and priced on the top side. My wife and I both thought it was worth the money. we enjoyed wonderful weather and a great holiday.
A word of warning - some of the rooms available lack a view. Ensure that you have a sea view. I highly recommend the Podstine.

Room Tip: Request a sea view

We stayed for 4 nights on our honeymoon in July this. The undoubted highlight of the hotel is its location with a private beach. However, the hotel decor is a bit tired and the restaurant staff could have been more polite. That said, the rates were more reasonable than the hotels closer to Hvar town. Overall we thought the hotel could have been much better with some investment and some TLC, and we didn't think it worthy of 4 stars.

We arrived around 830 am because we had taken early ferry from Vis. Though much earlier than check in time (3pm), we were warmly welcomed by staff at reception, given map and she took time to give useful information. We were also allowed to eat breakfast (the breakfasts here are great- fruit, eggs, sausages, meat, cheese, bread, yogurt, juices) and then given beach towels and allowed full access to facility. I actually got a massage at the spa during the day while waiting for the room to be ready! (I had the lavender massage for 300kn and it was amazing! Such a wonderful experience and Great value... I thought about doing it again the next day!)
-The hotel is an easy, pretty, 15-20 minute walk along pedestrian walkway to the city.
-Rooms clean and beautiful. Balcony had nice sea view. Shower worked well.

Tips- there's a studenac market witching 5 minute walk if you need sunscreen, snacks, drinks for the day...
- hotel has a shuttle that will pick you and drop you off at bus station. Just give them a call and it took about ten minutes for them to come!
- unrelated to hotel, but one of our favorite experiences in hvar was renting boat from Mario boat rental for the day. They are located in the main town square and then you can pick boat up along the pedestrian walkway about halfway between hotel and town.
Hope to have the opportunity to go to hvar in future and if we do we'd definitely stay here again!!

We had an enjoyable stay at Hotel Postine. It was in a beautiful and quiet location. Staff were very friendly and helpful at reception and the bar, however there was some poor attitudes displayed with some of the male staff at breakfast, which was a bit uncomfortable at times. We weren't the only ones to notice this. Therefore we didn't chose to eat there for dinner but can recommend Dalmatino's in Hvar which had great food and service!

Enjoyed a three day stay in Hvar. Large room with balcony and sea view, lovely terraces for relaxing and sun bathing. Really friendly staff and the shuttle to/from the port was efficient. There's a small pool, spa and gym plus a treatment area where I had a lavender massage. Lunch and evening meals were lovely in a great setting. A restful time after the busy-ness of Split and Dubrovnik.
