As I am very much interested in history, this place was a must for me. But it turned out to be a deception. The entrancefee is quit high for what you is showed. We could have a look in three tombs, but it is not allowed to take photos. In two tombs were some wallpaintings ,that was nice , in the other tomb was a mummy. Not very impressive , in the museum of Turpan you can see many mummies and take photos. The guard of the Astana was cold and brisk

This site has very little to see. There's only 3 tombs still open and they are not even well-maintained - one tomb has two mummies in it and the other two tombs have paintings on the wall. That's all you can see so don't bother visiting this site unless you have a lot of time to kill around Turpan. If you like mummies you should visit the National Museum in Urumqi.

This Tang era site is where the royalty of the old kingdom of Gaochang were buried. In order to see the mummies, you must walk down steep, narrow passages. The perfectly preserved mummies reveal many details of life in those times. The walls of one show Jade Man, Gold Man, Stone Man and Wooden Man which symbolize Confucian virtues.

Only 3 tombs were open in this large graveyard. Two were empty and one contained a male and female mummy.

The Turpan museum has mummies, so rather than walk up and down into tombs in a hot graveyard, I'd rather see mummies in air conditioned comfort.

There are only 3 tombs which could be visited
In one of them there are some poor drawings
You can visit these tombs only if you are close and you have nothing better to do !
