This restaurant is famous for its Beer Fish. It was featured on local TV and has many branches in West Street. We ate at a small corner outlet not far from the river. Quieter. We later notice that the prices are also slightly cheaper than the other, bigger outlets located centrally. Singer provides song and music. Not too loud. Just nice.
We ordered the Beer Fish (cheapest one, 48 RMB/kg) and some other regular dishes. Beer Fish is by weight. Smallest one is still about 2+ kg (around 100 RMB). Good enough for 3-4 people. Waiter will weigh and check with you first if you want to order. The most expensive sword fish is very expensive (180+ RMB/kg).
Beer fish is delicious. However, despite its name, I didn't really taste the beer in either the fish or gravy. It's the same elsewhere. I was told the alcohol content has evaporated during cooking. They locals used it to remove the fish smell. Regardless, it is very delicious and worth trying. Lots of bones though so be careful when eating. The other dishes are also quite good.
Recommend to go early (before 6pm if dinner) as it takes time to prepare, and also to get the better seats. It gets crowded after 6.30 pm.
