We certainly enjoyed our stay - there are many good things about the hotel and it was a great base for visiting Huangshan. However the condition of the hotel is really not good considering it is pretty much brand new

You can get a taxi from the hotel to the base station of the Taiping cable car. This is much less crowded than the other cablecars and takes you to a less crowded area at the top as well. There is a hotel near the ticket office for national park tickets where you can leave your suitcases for a fee. It’s quite difficult to find information about all this on the internet and we were worried it might not be possible, but it is!

Pluses

- Great staff, especially at front desk. They went out of their way to help us
- Hotel has a nice view across a lake
- Architecture of the hotel is not bad and the rooms are large and nicely designed
- Good breakfast with lots of local specialities

Negatives

- Hotel had only been open slightly more than 2 years when we were there but it looks as though it is falling down - dirty peeling paint, crumbling concrete every where. Seems like it is a combination of shoddy workmanship and poor maintenance
- The area around the hotel is bizarre. It seems that the hotel was designed as part of a large development of villas and huge tower blocks, built more or less in the middle of nowhere. Some of them are finished but apparently almost totally empty, others are partly built and abandoned. So you have all the disadvantages of being in the middle of nowhere and in a built up area, and none of the advantages of both

Arrived late at night, the hot shower helps to relieve tiredness from long journey.
Love the wooden flooring.
Balcony with sofa is a cool place to enjoy nice lake view.
Tips: Ask for a room that allows you to watch sunrise & pray for good weather to enjoy seeing the sunrise.

Love the pastries & sausage at breakfast.
Heard the swimming pools are great, too bad the outdoor swimming pool is closed during our stay.
My friend left his dirty socks in the room & found a note mentioning the socks has been washed & is hanging outside his balcony to dry.

Overall a good place to have a relaxing holiday.

Great Stop on the Lake Before Your Travel to the Mountains!
In fact that's exactly what we did! The Taiping lake is one of the biggest and really beautiful natural lakes in the area and its worth a visit to the hotel which is literally built on the lake! In fact most of the public spaces in the hotel and some rooms can give you a 270 degree view of the lake and a floating effect! The hotel staff is extremely proud of their hotel and more than eager to help you with your travel needs. The location is perfect for an overnight stay before (or after) your trip to the Houngshan Mountains (Yellow Mountains) which is a must see in China for its natural beauty and spectacular views. The drive to the Tramway for the mountains is less than an hour but its best to start early morning if you want to avoid crowds and long lines (we started around 6:30am). Make sure you pack breakfast and fruits, water etc in your backpacks and be prepared to climb up and down at least 600 meters in the mountains.
The hotel has a nice bar, lunge area and a restaurant all overlooking the lake and the food is great, however with limited western menu options.

Room Tip: Most rooms have great views but try to get on the "suites" wing.

We didn't expect that our stay will be so good! C/I and C/O were really efficient and smooth, the rooms are renovated and by the way all of them have a lake view and spacious balcony, room service is fast and cheap compare to other IHG hotels, nice pool, free sauna and steaming room. The place itself is so beautiful and quiet there is no shops or cafes around so be ready to eat only in the hotel. Actually it was the best choice of place after long hiking day on Mt.Huangshan. The service is ok but the main issue is English level. Most of them didn't speak a word in room service and restaurant so be ready, as well as concierge what was really surprising. Huge thanks to Patty from the Front Office who speaks pretty good English and was always willing to help. One more point is that we had a serious problem with an internet in the room it just simply didn't work anywhere except lobby.

Room Tip: All the rooms are with a lake view and design
