Traveled here for a short holiday to get out of Shanghai with the missus and was overall pleased with our stay. There are many good things about this hotel--rooms are large and clean, impressive views of the lake, friendly enough staff. Just try not to schedule your trip during peak summer periods because the hotel gets crowded, and you might get frustrated with some of the clientele. This is definitely a family hotel.

Some things didn't work such as the steam room and sauna (both were not turned on during the entirety of my trip), and the in-room refrigerator was actually hot when we first entered the room. One major turn-off is the hotel charges for things that should be free such as ping-pong paddles, pool queues, and air hockey paddles. Pool queues, for example, are 88 kuai per hour. Pretty ridiculous.

I've seen people complain about the location, but personally I think the location is one of the advantages of this hotel if you are looking to get away from everything. There are so many beautiful areas in the immediate vicinity. I highly recommend renting bicycles and riding along the designated bike-path nearby. You're not really supposed to swim in the lake but I found a place during our bike ride where I jumped in for a dip and it was awesome--very clean water.

For golfers out there, Hidden Tiger Golf Course is a 40 minute drive (or 20 minute boat ride for CNY 400). I have been playing golf for almost 30 years and this is one of the finest courses I've seen. Not cheap (CNY 1180 on weekdays, CNY 1580 on weekends), but totally worth it.

Room Tip: Do not get a room near the outdoor pool. It gets very loud.

Stayed for 3 nights when came to Huangshan to visit Yellow Mountain.

Firstly and importantly for everyone to know, this hotel is in the middle of nowhere.

There's a 1:30 Hour drive from the airport to the hotel, 475 CNY fee. Important to mention is that this hotel is in the middle of nowhere, therefore anything you want to do you gotta take a taxi.

The 2 famous villages are 1:15 hour away from the hotel, similar to go to any gate of the Yellow Mountain.

You end up spending easily 3k for trips from and to the hotel, including airport to hotel and the other way around. On the top of that, the hotel charges a fee is high for what it is which can't really be understood. You end up spend tons of money despite the beautiful scenes you about to experience.

Hotel looks old despite being relatively new. Maintenance of building must be 0. Looks like there's no activity in this hotel. When arrived at 10 PM there was no staff, only one person at FO, floor was being cleaned and asked us to keep the luggage at the door not to make the floor dirty. Breakfast is local and not more than that.

Rooms are generally good and big and the only positive aspect of this hotel.

Staff doesn't speak English which can be understandable considering the hotel location.

I wouldn't recommend to stay here if you wanna come to Huangshan. I wish I could have seen a review like this when planned my trip.

We certainly enjoyed our stay - there are many good things about the hotel and it was a great base for visiting Huangshan. However the condition of the hotel is really not good considering it is pretty much brand new

You can get a taxi from the hotel to the base station of the Taiping cable car. This is much less crowded than the other cablecars and takes you to a less crowded area at the top as well. There is a hotel near the ticket office for national park tickets where you can leave your suitcases for a fee. It’s quite difficult to find information about all this on the internet and we were worried it might not be possible, but it is!

Pluses

- Great staff, especially at front desk. They went out of their way to help us
- Hotel has a nice view across a lake
- Architecture of the hotel is not bad and the rooms are large and nicely designed
- Good breakfast with lots of local specialities

Negatives

- Hotel had only been open slightly more than 2 years when we were there but it looks as though it is falling down - dirty peeling paint, crumbling concrete every where. Seems like it is a combination of shoddy workmanship and poor maintenance
- The area around the hotel is bizarre. It seems that the hotel was designed as part of a large development of villas and huge tower blocks, built more or less in the middle of nowhere. Some of them are finished but apparently almost totally empty, others are partly built and abandoned. So you have all the disadvantages of being in the middle of nowhere and in a built up area, and none of the advantages of both

Arrived late at night, the hot shower helps to relieve tiredness from long journey.
Love the wooden flooring.
Balcony with sofa is a cool place to enjoy nice lake view.
Tips: Ask for a room that allows you to watch sunrise & pray for good weather to enjoy seeing the sunrise.

Love the pastries & sausage at breakfast.
Heard the swimming pools are great, too bad the outdoor swimming pool is closed during our stay.
My friend left his dirty socks in the room & found a note mentioning the socks has been washed & is hanging outside his balcony to dry.

Overall a good place to have a relaxing holiday.

Great Stop on the Lake Before Your Travel to the Mountains!
In fact that's exactly what we did! The Taiping lake is one of the biggest and really beautiful natural lakes in the area and its worth a visit to the hotel which is literally built on the lake! In fact most of the public spaces in the hotel and some rooms can give you a 270 degree view of the lake and a floating effect! The hotel staff is extremely proud of their hotel and more than eager to help you with your travel needs. The location is perfect for an overnight stay before (or after) your trip to the Houngshan Mountains (Yellow Mountains) which is a must see in China for its natural beauty and spectacular views. The drive to the Tramway for the mountains is less than an hour but its best to start early morning if you want to avoid crowds and long lines (we started around 6:30am). Make sure you pack breakfast and fruits, water etc in your backpacks and be prepared to climb up and down at least 600 meters in the mountains.
The hotel has a nice bar, lunge area and a restaurant all overlooking the lake and the food is great, however with limited western menu options.

Room Tip: Most rooms have great views but try to get on the "suites" wing.
