Amazing place right in center of old town, I arrived very late so didn't get to see much of old town. This hostel is nice and clean and well worth the price. I took a bed in four bed room and would recommend that. Their bar was also amazing, although it was almost empty the time I went but can be a very nice hangout place, it had a pool table, a swing on the terrace. There was bit of construction going around but that didn't bother me. I wish I could spend more time here, will try to be back.

This great little hostel is situated above a tea shop in Tunxi's Old Street. A great base before the hike up Huangshan, the hostel is fairly easy to find, and you can catch a bus to Old Street for a couple of yuan from Huangshan Bei (North) train station (30 minutes away). A friend and I stayed in a private deluxe double room which was massive, super clean and had lovely views over Tunxi for under US$30 a night. The staff at the hostel were very friendly and although English was a bit of a struggle at times, there was always the utmost effort to help. An early morning bus to the base of Huangshan can be booked through the hostel or you can easily get to Hunagshan train station to catch a bus to the mountain later on in the day. We stayed a night at the top of Huangshan and the hostel looked after our luggage overnight so we were able to take just a small backpack with us. They even organised a packed breakfast for us to take up the mountain. The hostel has a bar and a restaurant which had the potential for having a great atmosphere, but with so many great restaurants in and around Old Street, evenings out were a much better option. The hostel also offers bikes for hire and if you get the chance to hire a bike for a couple of hours, it's such a lovely ride down the river on a sunny afternoon. The only downer for this place is that the walls are ridiculously thin so it was very noisy through the night with doors of other rooms slamming shut, not ideal when you're planning to get up at the crack of dawn. Still a great place to stay and would highly recommend it to anyone.

An excellent place to stay, and cheap as well. The historic building with its interior courtyard is amazing, almost like a museum. The rooms are very cozy and charming (although they did get a bit chilly at night), The staff is also very friendly. We had both their breakfast and dinner, both excellent.

So basically, this place is amazing, no complaints at all!

Like in most Hostels in China, the service here is very good: we were served by a young, very smart girl who spoke excellent English. She was eager to answer all our questions and help us in every way she could. She explained us how to get to the Hongcun and Xidi villages and even wrote us in Chinese what we could show to the bus drivers.

For some reason this is marked as it is located in Huangshan, in reality this is town called Tunxi ! The hostel is located right on the "historical" old street ( in reality not so historical as many places in China it is rebuild). Location is good, prices are OK for what you get, beer in the on-site restaurant is cold with good promotions. Food is rather average.
