“Agree with Todderous”
Reviewed 28 September 2011

I stayed at the Breza with my wife & 3 young children, but I have to agree with Todderous.
Upon arriving late into the evening we were ushered in for food. The waiters stood next to the table while we sat down to eat. My kids & wife found the food repulsive & made no attempt to eat it but I tried to be polite, as the waiters were watching, and tried to force some down, but I couldn't.
We had two rooms, they were very small. In one room the sink was broken & could hardly hold any water. The light switch was detached from the wall with the wires on show. The beds were hard, uncomfortable and far too small.
Early next day we saw our Rep and paid to upgrade to "the best hotel in the resort". We were sent to the Samakov. It was a big improvement but way way way short of being a good hotel.
The food throughout the resort was very poor, although the Restaurants were far better than the Hotels.
At first everything seemed very cheap, but I soon began to feel that you can't move without dipping your hand into your pocket.
Todderous has given the best advice.... "Go to France"

I went to this hell hole with 3 friends for a lads ski holiday. wasnt expecting much after reading a few reviews... we arrived late around 22.30 and where promised a "meal", but this "meal" consisted of an inedible SPAM sandwich , half a cucumber, a tomato and a moldy orange!.... rooms where very dirty, i could not walk around without shoes on because of the grit and grime on the floor... an the bathroom was always soaking wet as the shower had just a drain in the floor wich was blocked!....DO NOT GO HERE.... infact... DO NOT GO TO BOROVETS the hole place is god awful.... the touts trying to get you into their resturants drove me crazy....the food is rubbish anyway! the strip clubs are tacky and a rip off... and most of all theres an extreme lack of snow! was skiing on sheet ice most the days wich is not fun but dangerous most of the runs where closed so we had to get a bus to the next town, i forgotten what its called, but even those 2 or 3 runs got boring.... i just belive the whole place is trying to be somthing its never going to be.... the bulgarians aint even nice people, just money grabbers.... oh and at the hotel i asked if they could switch the sauna on asumeing they would switch the steam room on also, they just seemed shocked i had the cheek to ask them and made us wait 3 hours.... and what do you know, we could only use the sauna they hadnt switched the steam room on.... and they decided to charge us 14 levs per person after we had come out.... my advice is GO TO FRANCE!!

We selected the hotel due to its location, price and reviews but were disappointed that it did not live up to our expectations. The hotel itself is fine we had a small apartment room which had a small lounge area and pull out double bed.It was cleaned occasssionally when the maid bothered to clean the bathroom or even make the beds clean towels were just flung on the beds which may only appear trivial.Reception was poor as the staff spoke no english we became experts in drawing pictures which was a pain. Also the guy behind reception was a chain smoker which is off putting especially since all the guests were British. Food was poor quality and a very small selection with the typical Bulgarian warm food. The hotel should offer a 3 selection fixed menu daily but were obviously cost cutting by putting on a buffet.Holiday rep sorted it for one night then the hotel went back to buffet. The food always appeared to be yesterdays dishes turned into something different ie ham one day then fried ham the next.We were not allowed alcohol with our meal until the holiday company intervened.I would not go back to the hotel.

We read reviews from previous guests and the hotel sounded basic and good value for money, we stayed a night. Room OK but the Bar exit on the 1st floor where we were staying was a real shocker - drunk Bulgarians shouting at 2am is no joke. We moved to the Mura - 4th floor room, very quiet.

I agree about the food as well - we had an evening meal there and the waitress seemed surprised that we were there and that we wanted some beer with our food. The food was chucked at us in one big serving. However, the problem was really the noise.

Mura much better, owned by the same organisation I think and probably the same price!

i ll try to keep it brief...the plus point of this hotel is that the location is pretty good, right next to the gondola and a couple of minutes walk to the nursery slopes.
I suppose the hotel bar is quite nice if you dont mind sitting in a haze of smoke.

The rooms are quite small but basic, no coat hangers meant we lived out of our suit cases for the week, bathroom was equivalent to an 18 - 30s holiday.

Worst part about this hotel is the food, breakfast was a joke with one toaster working between around 25 guests which meant a long wait. (and it was nt the quickest toaster in the world !) would nt touch any of the hot food if it was the last meal before being locked away for 30 years. scrambled eggs looked like slop. eggs were black inside. some of the butter smelt of baby sick !!

The evening meal i can t really comment on as the first breakfast had put me off returning there again for the week !! i know other guests had similar troubles with complaints of raw chicken being served only for the whole tray to be taken away and returned minutes later still pink inside ! people would be much advised to walk up the street where there s plenty of places which serve tasty cheap food.

overall the hotel is very basic but adequate as long as your not expecting the ritz, the location is good. the food is rubbish. you ll return stinking of cigarette smoke as there s bulgaria has introduced this law as of yet. ( and the staff smoke in the resturaunt !! )

All in all you get what you pay for .................
