I first stayed in this villa last year with a friend and was met at Varna airport by Ludimere, a local taxi driver that has been known to the owners for ten years. His English was good and for a forty minute journey we were charged 75 lev (approximately £30.00) on arrival at the villa we were greeted by Ivanka and shown how to work the alarm etc. I had seen pictures of the villa on the web site but they did not do it justice. All three bedrooms open onto a spacious terrace on the top floor and every morning we would sit with a cup of tea taking in the scenery and tranquility. The owners have thought of everything for their guests comfort and it was truly a home from home. We returned again this year on the 22 September for one week (not long enough!) we visited the botanical gardens which were a delight and a ten minute stroll from the villa.
The promenade is a down hill walk approximately twenty minutes where you are spoilt for choice with regard to good restaurants. We ate at most but our favourites were The Crown, Hemmingways, The White House and a recently opened Italian restaurant. All restaurants over look the sea and beautiful harbour (where you can hire boats for a day or just a couple of hours) except the Italian. Some restaurants have live music which we also enjoyed. We would phone Ludimere ten minutes before we needed a taxi home (7 lev approximately £3.00 - worth every penny as it is up hill all the way).
I was rather loathe to write this review as I did not want to share our gem of a find on the Black Sea . We shall certainly be returning again next year to enjoy Villa Elitza and the delights of Balchik.
