This was one of our first hotel experiences in Brazil. Gramado is a wonderful place to visit and Hotel das Hortensias has the same historical german feel that the town demands. All three of us adults stayed in one room with a balcony -- one double bed and one single. We loved leaving the french doors open all day and night to get the fresh breeze coming into the room. The staff was amazingly friendly and attentive to all our needs even when we were not sure how to speak Portuguese all that well. One of our party wanted to borrow an iron. Instead they insisted on ironing his shirts for him at no charge. Breakfast, parking, and internet were all included in the price which we appreciated very much. The breakfast was higher quality than most that we have encountered since. Definitely would recommend!

The staff here are wonderfully friendly and helpful and really made us feel welcome. The hotel is well-located close to the main square and streets with good restaurants and is very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was first class with a very large selection of fresh and tasty food. I loved the Alpine-effect decor, which somehow here seemed pretty authentic. Gramado is fascinating and a lot of fun and there is loads to see in the surrounding area. Thanks for a great stay!
