Sao Januario and an historic place, this wonderful stadium belongs to Club De Regatas Vasco Da Gama. This club was one of the first to use black players and disadvantaged people, cauldron known among fans is situated in north Rio. This stadium was built in 10 months with money from fans. Vasco and the only club with carioca own stadium with the trophy saloon, pool and much more. Sao Januario was built, because the epoch of the bourgeoisie did not want that Vasco dispute is the state championship because of Vasco use black players and less favored by the rich of the season. It has a beautiful entry, day games for the place changes completely. If you want to know a historic place, with a beautiful story not miss Sao Januario.

The only Carioca soccer team with a stadium.

A place to have fun with family and friends. The history of Vasco da Gama are rich and glorious.

There are good restaurants around and in the stadium, nice soccer's funs shopping.

A must to go in Rio.

The only soccer club in Rio that has its own stadium, big enough for a first division soccer match. The look from outside is not the best but inside it is nice and neat!!! It holds around 20.000 but it will be renovated and enlarged for the olympics

Its really ugly surroundings can send a chill down by the spine, and it is not a good idea to go there alone. Choose a match and GO WITH A FRIEND (local). But It is in fact as dangerous as any other carioca area. Taxis may be the best choice from Zona Sul (Around 100 reais).

Now a cosy, even small stadium, Vasco da Gama's house is pure history and was the biggest football stadium in latin-america when it was built. Getúlio Vargas, Brazil's former president used to make speeches in it.

If visited on a match day (tickets around 60 reais), might be a nice experience. A must go for football fans. Trophy room open, as well as Vasco's shop (beside one of the entrances).

If you're a drinker, do it before getting in since alcohol consumption is not allowed inside brazilliann stadiums.
