This hotel won't blow you away but it is perfectly fine for a few nights stay in Rio. The views from the Sea Rooms are great, the locating is amazing, the service is efficient, the rooms are modern and clean and the perspective from the rooftop pool is stunning. We enjoyed our stay and would come back again.

I noticed that a lot of the other reviewers have said it was expensive...but I booked it online quite a way in advance and got for a reasonable cost. The standard of hotels is not brilliant in Rio for the cost, but this is a lovely brand new hotel on the sea front by Copacabana. We booked twice here - for the start and end of our trip, and on the return journey they upgraded us free of charge to a room with a sea view, which was much nicer. The rooms are very clean, smart and modern and the breakfast is excellent. My only gripe was the over eager waiter thath kept swiping my breakfast when I went up to get a drink! The rooftop pool is a bonus too - great views and nice to chill out on the terrace with a drink at the end of the evening and just people watch. I found the staff extremely accommodating and had no problems there. They aren't great at pushing tourist attractions, but I didn't want that anyway - they were very helpful when we asked for anything though. On the last day we needed to keep the room and they said we could have it free til 2pm or pay 1/2 rate until 6pm. We thought that was great as they honoured the internet price I had paid as well. Definitely great place to stay for the price.

Room Tip: I would upgrade to sea view if you can afford it - the non sea views are of a brick wall and the roo...

Rio is an expensive city, and this hotel is not cheap. We checked into the hotel with another couple after completing a Venice to Rio Princess cruise. We booked a corner room and we were able to occupy the room as early as 8:15 AM. Our friends booked a non-view room and had to wait till 2:00 PM. Our view was a straight shot down the beach towards the fort and beyond. Last night from the roof we watched the Star Princess depart Rio. : ( Indeed, a wonderful view with which to greet the day. The top-floor pool and sun deck had a bar, steam room, showers, and a work-out room. And, did I mention the unrestricted view? Breathtaking. It was a very comfortable room. Air conditioner worked well, window opens, and maid service was as expected. No complaints. Breakfast, self-serve, was included: strong coffee, tea, 3 types of juice, flan, several native sweet cakes, scrambled eggs, sausage with onions, fruit etc. You won't go hungry. Deliciousness with a view of the beach! The Arena is a block from the famous Copacabana Palace hotel. And, on Av. Atlantica you can flag down a van which will drop you anywhere along the strip for about 2.00 - 2.50 Brazilian -great way to get a quick ride down the length of Copacabana and Ipanema. The Metro is a few blocks away, and the beach -across the street. We were warned by many to ride the Metro during the day and to avoid the buses. Many places to eat are within a few steps. There's a 24 hour supermarket around the corner. We would book again.

Room Tip: A view is nice, but who stay's in their room in Rio?

Horrible place to spend a weekend. We have stayed at many hotels on this strip with the same views etc but with much better service at much better prices or at least on par.
They say that all rooms are non-smoking but we got a room with the stench of cigarettes with an astray at the bedside. There is even a charge for the ashtray if it goes missing in their rather cheap looking list of 'if you broke it you bought it' items placed on the table.
The check in took forever and ran over the stipulated check in time and service was really horrible throughout nothing compared to other options we had previously stayed at on the very same strip. The bedding is cheap and the bed uncomfortable as well. Do not stay here.

Room Tip: We stayed at the most expensive suit so that was pretty much as good as it got. Rubbish.

In a city that has become prohibitively expensive in the past few years, Arena is a good middle-of-the-road choice on Copacabana, but it's not cheap. The rooms are adequate and being so close to the beach is nice. However, it's a long walk to Ipanema, which is more interesting. And the front desk service was hit or miss: often misinformed, not knowing much about anything, it didn't feel very helpful with regard to accurate information. But, again, for the price, this is a decent choice in Rio.
