We had a fantastic stay at Villa Rasa Marina. Felt like a little piece of paradise with the lounge chairs overlooking the almost private Rasa beach. The employees were very helpful with organizing trips. The Villa is about 15 minutes from the center of town so the commute to the center or different beaches does add up. However, this distance gives the Villa a more quaint feeling.

I've been going to Buzios for quite a few years, mainly on the last week of november, when it is not crowded and swarmed by tourists. From all the hotels and "pousadas" I've been to, this one was, by far, the best! I really enjoyed the decoration and architecture, with heavy southern asian influence and totally adapted to Brazilian environment. The room was nice, not the best, but maybe the best I've been in Buzios. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was actually very good. One extra point for the coffee itself, which was delicious and with a fruity aftertaste.
The only drawback came from the shower water, it was not warm and even after contacting the staff, nothing was done to improve the situation.
Other than that, I recommend this hotel wholeheartedly.

The villa is located 10' away by car from the center of Buzios. The employees were very kind and helpful in every detail. Although we had a problem with our booking, they sorted it out for us and even upgraded us. The beach is calm and very clean. There's a swimming pool in the garden. Rooms are big and well furnished. Breakfast was very good too. Excellent.

We wanted a place to relax after our trip from London to Buenos Aires and Iguazu Falls with our 4 year old. This place was perfect. Away from the hustle and bustle of Buzios centre, right on the beach and with a nice swimming pool, great restaurant and beautiful grounds. Andrea at reception was very helpful when we arrived late on New Years eve. She went out of her way to make sure that we were looked after throughout the trip (for English speaking travellers, it was hard to communicate with waiters /housekeeping etc, but a small price to pay for being off the beaten track a bit). The General Manager Victor was also very much on hand and spoke English well and together with Guilano (who was also helpful at the front desk) they helped me choose a nice restaurant for dinner in Buzios, for my wife's birthday. In terms of the hotel - As we were travelling with a 4 year old, we wanted to stay on the beach side. We made the choice to go with the most basic room on the beach side (even though we had been allocated a much bigger room across the road). It was a tough call, and although 9 times out of 10 we'd go with the bigger/better room, we just felt that this wasn't a place we'd be spending a lot of time in our room so having quick access to the room for our 4 year old was important. i will say for those of you debating room choices, that it's actually quite pleasant across the road, with its own pool and although the road is busy, porters are at hand to help you cross. There are rooms on the beach side that have no view and are smaller (we had one) so unless you pay the premium for the sea view, I'd have been quite happy with the bigger room across the road (were it not for the fact that we were travelling with a little child). The restaurant at the hotel was great.. from ceviche, calamari ('lula' as they call it) to spaghetti bolognese - food was top notch. The New Years Eve buffet was also super and what a place to take in the New year! It was really special being right on the beach and having a panoramic view of the fireworks going off in Buzios and the rest of the peninsular... breathtaking in fact. The surf was warm in December, small waves and no backcurrent... very nice indeed for relaxing dips (safe enough to take my 4 year old in and he loved it too) and the breeze off the water was great - never too strong to be annoying and very welcome as we would likely have baked without it. We ventured into Buzios one night only - on my wife's birthday and ate at Cigalon. Highly recommend the restaurant for location and food. Although it doesn't look like much from the entrance. Ask for a table outside for the beach/ocean view or inside at the window. Buzios looks like a real party town, so if thats what you are after, then this hotel isn't for you. Traffic from Rio to Buzios on New Years eve was horrific. Took just over 5 hours from the airport, when it should have taken 3. Also from the resort to downtown Buzios, traffic over the New Year period was so bad it took nearly an hour to travel the 15km from the hotel - bear that in mind if you are travelling over the period, needless to say we didn't venture back into Buzios after that. Areas for improvement? The resort has a basic kids club (unsupervised) that is more suited to toddlers. Could do with a few more toys for older children, just paper and crayons even! The hotel also has a spa - not sure if it was just a language thing, but possibly the worst massage I have ever had... my gran could have applied more pressure on my back than the masseuse! Also, don'tt expect any extras (no chill-out spa music, herbal tea etc). Overall a superb place to chill out, ideal for a family, despite the language barrier and the spa. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: We made the choice to go with the most basic room on the beach side (even though we had been allocated a much bigger room across the road). It's not like you are stuck in a B grade part across the road, they have kept the 'boutique' hotel feel on that side too.

This nice hotel at Praia Rasa is a perfect place for relaxing. Warm water at the ocean, good for kids all ages. Just minutes away from Rua das Pedras, but also far from busy and noisy places. Friendly staff, nice breakfast and pool. Ask for Beach front, but great comfortable rooms. We went to rooms 9 and 19, very nice!
