This is. The second oldest church of Brasil.. As this is one of the early ones dont expect luxury as the churches in Salvador.. It is a small and well maintained church that showed how early portuguese kept their catholic faith while eploring new parts of the world .

Incredibly solid construction with more than 500 yrs. It was informed that its walls are 1meter thick and were placed together with oil from whales, which was a common material fro constructions at the time.

Igreja de São João Batista descoberta pelos jesuítas em 1586. Localizada no quadrado, lugar icônico de Trancoso, hoje palco de diversos casamentos. Tive a sorte de visitar logo após o 2o casamento do fim de semana.

São João Batista, a church founded in 1586 by the jesuítas. Its locates at "Quadrado" an iconic place in Trancoso. In the last couple years has been a reference for several weddings. I had a great opportunity to visit just after one of it.
