“It was a superb experience and my teenage daughter is enthusiastic”
Reviewed 16 August 2011

Tropical tree climbing is organized by Leo and his wife as one of the attractions of the Ariau towers resort on the edge of the Rio Negro, north of Manaus (Amazonas - Brazil). It was a first for my daughters and me. We so greatly enjoyed it that we climbed twice on the first day and came back every day till our departure. Last but not least, Leo is a fascinating character.

“Great way to spend a day in the Amazon!”
Reviewed 12 August 2011

We were in the Amazon/Manaus for a total of 6 days. We decided to go Tropical Tree Climbing for one of the days which was a good decision. You do have to take about an hour boat ride (each way) to and from part of the Amazon from the Tropical Manaus Hotel, but we found this relaxing and fun and also a good way to see part of the river that you never would have otherwise.

The actual tree climbing was a great experience. The entire family comes to greet you at the lodge (there is a chance to use the restroom then if need be) and then they walk you out to the tree you will be climbing. The tree is very tall - over 100ft - and they set you up in this climbing/repeling apparatus. It is a bit of workout but is well worth it once you get to the top for the view. (dont worry about it being to hard - they have different pulleys that make it easier for different people and for people that cant pull themselves up they have a hoist to help you out.) Once you get to the top, you get to enjoy a view of the top of the amazon - looking around into tall trees and seeing all the birds and maybe some monkeys around you. It is very relaxing and enjoyable and they even give you a snack to have up in the top of the tree. There is also a hammock if you want to relax up there.

The family that brings you is very friendly. They have had an interesting life and have stories to share. They even bring you to lunch afterwards. Overall this was a great experience and something different to do while you are in the Amazon. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

“stunning experience in the middle of the Amazon”
Reviewed 10 August 2011

The treeclimbing experience was a great icing-on-the-cake at the Ariau Towers hotel. We did it as an optional last excursion during our 4 day stay at the resort and it was easily one of the best. Being able to climb safely to 20-25 meters and rest in a hammock for a while overlooking the rainforest and the mighty Rio Negro was very special. My two teenage kids loved it and showed me how fit they are by outclimbing me quickly.
We had a great time, despite the fact that my wife stayed downstairs because of her vertigo.
Leonides did a wonderful job in guiding us through the whole experience. It is a definite recommendation to everyone who feels young enough to do it. (It really is a boy's dream.)
