I spent 4 days in Florian Shkodra guest house and loved every minute. The Guest house is about 10 to 15 minute walk to the centre or you can take one of the bikes for free into town which i did a few times.
The food and family was the highlight. All the food is farmed from the gardens around the house and also the father makes his own wine from the grapes in the garden which was awesome!

I stayed in the new rooms which were brand new. Everything was modern and spotless. Showers were piping hot which was great as Shkoda was cold compared to Tirana!

I found it to be great value and got a real taste of how a real Albanian family lives. Florian speaks great English and we had many discussions about Albanian and Albanian life.

If you spend time in Albania this is a must do on your itinerary. Nowhere else will you get a feel for how Albanians live and there legendary hospitality!

Thanks for eveything Florian see you in Aus one day mate!

Northern Albanian Hospitality imbues the Florian Guesthouse. Expect to be treated both like a king and like a family member. Meals are shared with the family and prepared using only fresh produce from the garden along with home-made cheese, bread, and wine. The setting is simple yet peaceful and clean. With Florian at the helm, your journey can be whatever you want it to be. He has many connections in Albania to help with anything from cheap taxi drivers to organizing trekking excursions to tracking down Albanian antiques (I import art and antiques for a living). Although it's located just outside of town, this is the ideal option for travelers who prefer to immerse themselves in the local culture.

The people are really nice but the traveller needs to understand this is a classic home stay where the tourist will socialise and interact with the family often. There isn't actually a room immediately available and some people may find that claustrophobic. Your sleeping quarters might be the main living room as is sometimes usual in homestays. Facilities are shared of course. Its quite far out of the centre of town, perhaps three quarters of an hour on foot. Florian speaks good English. The food is homegrown, homemade and superb. Price for two people is 30 euros.
