“Great location and hotel, excellent staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 April 2012

We were visiting DC for a weekend and got an excellent deal at Hyatt Crystal City through Hotwire. The location is perfect, just outside of DCA and close to the Metro. The hotel itself is in excellent condition, rooms are decent sized, nice views and have all the necessary amenities. The bathroom is also up to date. The staff is very courteous and extremely helpful - the Concierge team gave good recommendations for places to visit, eat etc. The restaurants in the hotel are decent, there is a breakfast buffet, but it is around USD 17 - you get a good selection of items though. We really enjoyed the shuttle service staff - shuttles run every 20 minutes to DCA and 15 minutes to the Metro until midnight. This is a must-have to stay here - there is nothing much around the hotel to eat, so you need to get to the Crystal City mall to get to a food court. The one drawback is that the Internet is not free and the cost is a bit steep to get it - since we were on vacation, it didn't really matter however.

Overall, an excellent hotel, with great staff and amenities. We really enjoyed our stay here.

Room Tip: Higher units have good views.

We recently stayed at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City while on a short pleasure trip to DC. The room was very large, clean and had all the amenties. Our room only had a shower which was fine but it you want a bathtub, you may want to ask. They did not have a mini-fridge in the room which I don't understand why as most hotels have this nowdays. The hotel was very convenient for us to go across the Potomac to see all the DC sights but out of the way of the city noise and traffic. We were there on a weekend and since this is right down the street from the Pentagon I am sure the rush hour traffic is bad. It is very convenient to Regan National Airport and they have free shuttle service to the airport and to the Metro stop, or you can walk a few blocks to it. It was also close to the Mall at Pentagon City - I think it is called Fashion Center Mall. We didn't eat in the restaurants but did have cocktails on the one at the top which did have a view of the Washington Monument which was neat - plus got to see alot of planes landing at Regan. We also had drinks at the lobby bar - had appetizers there and was very pleased with the value received. There are plenty of good restaurants within walking distance - Legal SeaFoods, Morton's, Ruth Chris, McCormick & Schmitt's and many other chains and fast food as well. The staff was super friendly and we received excellent service from check-in to maid service to the wait staff. Will defintely be back and recommend others stay there as well.

I stayed in this hotel for 5 days on business. The rooms were nice and adequately furnished. I did not eat in any of the restaurants but did have lunches/dinners catered by the hotel for the conference I was attending...I didn't dislike anything. There is a Starbucks on the backside of the hotel, which I preferred to the strong hotel coffee. A few blocks down, there are plenty of nice restaurants to choose from. The hotel shuttle will take you to the airport (Reagan) as well as the Crystal City metro station, both are only several minutes away.

A lovely property with very nice room. I have stayed here several times and have never had any serious problems. This time, I was given a gorgeous suite, but it smelled awfully of smoke so I was moved to a normal sized "respire" room. It was very nice, but the air purifier makes a fair amount of noise. Fortunately for me, a little ambient noise helps me fall asleep but others might be bothered by it.

I was in town for a professional/educational conference. The hotel is centrally located for easy access to the metro, shopping, and dining. The valet - Wayne - was extremely helpful in recommending places to visit, eat, and shop. He made sure our group was well prepared and taken care of! The hotel truly has a superstar in Wayne!

The rooms were nice. For the price, there should have been a mini-fridge, microwave, or at least continental breakfast included. However, our great valet pointed us to the grill across the street for reasonably priced meals. There is a shuttle that transports to and from the metro station every 15 minutes. As a first time guest to the area, the best piece of info about the metro that we received was AVOID the green line - it does not go into friendly places.

The excellent service is what made this hotel get such a high rating. I would have rated it as "excellent" had there been some kind of amenities that took some of the 'ouch' out of the price.

Room Tip: Ask for Wayne
