My husband and I recently visited the Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum after reading about it in the Alexandria Visitor's Guide during a weekend getaway. We highly recommend visiting and taking the tour! At 30 minutes long, the tour is the perfect length for history and museum lovers, as well as those with shorter attention spans. Our tour guide was fantastic - very friendly and knowledgeable. Take a glimpse into the past with this wonderful and inexpensive tour!

Tours are $5 for adults and offered at a quarter past the hour and 45 minutes past the hour. The tour lasts about 30 minutes long and takes you on two levels of the apothecary. The docent explains historical information about the place as well as specifics on medicinal practices and drug usages throughout history.

Not for small children who are easily bored/fussy but otherwise great for anyone interest in history and/or offbeat tour sites!

We were actually planning to go to another site, but it was closed and so went here on a recommendation from a local. This was a well preserved gem. The location operated as an apothecary until 1933. The location was shuttered and then within a few years a group went about buying and preserving it. The place is almost entirely intact. Did the guided tour which was really informative. Highly recommend!

This is a small museum. It is a completely preserved pharmacy that operated for over 100 years. We found the tour interesting and informative. Our guide was friendly and answered our questions. A definite must see for Old Town

People used to take nearly anything to alleviate the symptoms of what ailed them! Seriously bizarre botanical ingredients used to compound old school "medicine". Jessica was our guide and we enjoyed the tour. Also, very happy we live in 2017, not 150 years ago!
