Our trip plans got mixed around, so we found ourselves here on a Monday, and discovered that they are closed on Mondays. Oops. My 8-yo is obsessed with tanks and aircraft, though, so we were still able to have some fun. He got a very up-close view of all kinds of things he'd only seen in videos. I hope we are able to go back sometime, when they are open.

We visited the museum before watching the Civil War Reenactment. We were surprised at the size of the museum and thoroughly enjoyed it. My son was super excited about the special Lego made for the museum.

Without an iota of doubt, this has to be the best museum in the state devoted entirely to the exploits of individual heroes as well as the noteworthy accomplishments of units formed, organized and serving under the Lone Star. Through written histories, actions from frontier days to the present are presented in a manner to be understood and appreciated by all, from the most novice of observers to the accomplished military historian. A friendly staff will greet you, answer any questions, and start you on your way. Want to be overwhelmed? Stick your nose in the Insignia Collection Room. On the down side, the heavy equipment exhibited outside the museum has not been very well maintained with most of the vehicles showing signs of deterioration.

It is small but it definitely is cool! I have been going here the past two years for a organization Christmas party and my wife and I love it! You can learn a lot about our military and it is cool seeing some of antique military vehicles
