Description: Embers Steak House is located at 2721 Virginia Circle. The handcrafted wooden benches just outside the front door set the stage for the upscale steakhouse. As you enter, your senses will be engulfed with color, texture, and that wonderful aroma of steaks on the grill. Chad Lardie is the proud proprietor of the Embers Steak House. Chad grew up in Michigan and Colorado and then moved with his family to Amarillo in 1994. He graduated from Texas Tech with a degree in Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Management. Embers was named after one of Chad's father's favorite restaurants in Michigan. Chad liked the name because he felt it gave him a fair amount of leeway to do things he wanted with his new enterprise. Once the doors opened, Amarillo folks immediately started telling Chad about the old Embers in downtown in the 70s. The name itself has spurred a lot of discussions and ‘remember this and that’ from the Embers at 16th and Tyler.

There were 4 of us for dinner. Shelley was our server. Very pleasant. We were with “regulars” from Amarillo and had eaten here last year. 3 of us had chicken meals and my wife trout. All were excellent. The green chili macaroni and cheese was awesome and the lemon something cake for dessert sinful.

Visited recently for a special family dinner and enjoyed some great almond encrusted halibut. Also enjoyed some great Texas whiskey.

We went here a year ago and ut was great food/steak and service. We went 3/10/18 and it terrible. Marinated Filet was dry and the cook could not get it cooked correctly after sending back raw the first time. It still came back raw and cold in the center. We also order a prime rib and it was 1/3 fat and had some sort of grease on it. We ordered the crispy shrimp that were good, but they don't make those. They are pre-made and just dropped in the fryer. That is what the terrible service lady told us when we complimented the shrimp. Must be new owners or something. We made a point of going this trip and were VERY disappointed!! Never again.

This is a locals favorite. If you are looking for a steak house like "The Palm", "Mortons", or "Del Friscos" - this is not it. It is a local average size restaurant with plenty of seating and great atmosphere. It has an intimate feel and the staff is incredible. Seriously wonderful people. Friday and Saturday nights are packed, so call or go early. The steaks are generally pretty good and reasonably priced, the salmon is very good, the salads are good as well. Prime rib rocks. Seafood is fresh and of good quality - I like the Mahi and Halibut. Sides are great and the pretzel roles are wonderful. try the chicken fried tenders as a appetizer. Steak House pasta is great. The service is exceptional. Wine list is reasonably priced and you can find some pretty good wines that will not damage your wallet too much. Liquor drinks are well poured and generous. We go at least once a week as a family and love this place. It is great for business meetings - I take people from out of town often. The bar is small - I like the table at the bar of I can get them.
