We had gone to the Community Market on Historic Polk Street downtown. Decided to walk down the street for brunch. Since we were early for the lunch period they were not busy. They have two dining areas and a covered outside patio down stairs. The patio is pet friendly. There is also a lovely rooftop lounge and dining area with views for nice weather. Atmosphere is casual, place rather dark and plain but cozy. Our waitress was pleasant and kept my coffee cup full. The Brunch menu is limited to just a few items (would like a few more choices). We started with the
Bruschetta Appetizer which was simply delicious. Then I had the Cinnamon French Toast with scrambled egg, and sausage, my spouse had the BLT with egg and chips. Quality was good and portions/price reasonable. There is no parking lot nearby so parking is on the street and can be limited at times.

Our first trip back to Amarillo in a while and first visit to new Crush. We loved it so much for dinner the first night we were back again the second night. Over the years we have done everything on the menu and it’s all great. If you’re having trouble deciding you can’t go wrong with steak frites or Kung pao chicken tacos.

With all of the new restaurants opening in Polk Street, we hadn’t had a chance to try our old favorite “Crush”. Saturday we finally made it downtown for a “Crush” Brunch.

Crush has a fabulous brunch menu and great outdoor seating. I had the French toast with cheese egg scramble and blueberry sausage. It was very yummy. I only had the half order, it was perfect for me. My husband had the huevos rancheros Benedict. It was a large serving of deliciousness. Topped with green chilies. He is a big guy and the full order was perfect.

We walked it off with. Visit to the farmers market. Downtown Amarillo is really a fun place to be on Saturday mornings!

The good: Roof top patio is relaxing and comfortable on a summer night. Friendly competent wait staff. Apricot glazed Salmon cooked perfectly and was fresh and tasty. Wine selection pretty good. Good variety on menu.

The bad: Restaurant is hip and sleek but loud as there is not a lot to absorb sound. The risotto flavor was nice but consistency was way off being very thick and pasty. Brussels sprouts were undercooked and too hard to eat (for my husband, I ate mine).

We’ve always had decent luck going here at off-times for lunch or snacks and drinks. But, unfortunately, dinner time and late-night dining usually ends with us leaving disappointed. We had flatbreads (cajun and steak ones were good, veggie was pretty bland). Here are the pros and cons:
pros: good menu, nice selection of wine and beer, great outdoor seating, decorated nicely.
cons: pricey food and drinks; slow, inattentive service; really loud dining room.
We WANT to love this place, but never quite do.
