My family has been wanting to try the Black Walnut Cafe for quite some time and our visit did not disappoint. You walk-in and there is a table where you can look at menus before walking up to the counter to order. If crowded it is probably easier to look at the menu and decide what you want before. They then give you a buzzer and you can find a seat. The food was beyond my expectations. I ordered the Turkey Burger and was thoroughly impressed by how well seasoned and flavorful it was. We also ordered the Blackened Salmon Caesar Salad, the Black Walnut Salad, a bowl of Tomato Basil soup, and the Grilled Chicken Breast with a cup of tortilla soup. Both salads were delicious and the soups were very tasty. The grilled chicken was a little dry and the roasted veggies that came with it seemed like a bit of an after thought, but overall the other components made the meal. I do believe it is a little pricy for a place where you order at a counter and then go pick up your own food, but the quality of the food was amazing. I will definitely be back!

First visit to this café that looks small and simple on the outside-looks can be deceiving! The inside is large and well decorated; the layout is a little confusing. They have a full menu but you go up to the counter to order-ends up with people milling around figuring out what they want. Prices are more in line with sit-down service; however, the staff is pretty good. We were pleasantly surprised by the food-salads were generous (no problem with substituting a different cheese), chicken was a little over-cooked but flavorful, tomato soup came with cheese tortellini, and the turkey burger was "the best I've ever had-I could give up beef for this!". We will be back!

They have everything. I would describe the restaurant as fancy diner comfort food. No matter what you are in the mood for, they will have something to satisfy your group. Try the seasonally flavored coffee. I love it. Service is always excellent. They definitely know what they're doing here.

My wife and I stopped here after church and were impressed with ambience. We both had a salad and they were good sized portions and were very tasty. Service was good and we had a corner booth that was tucked away and gave us a great place for good conversations.

This area has a multitude of good cafes. The Black Walnut is good but does not really set itself apart from other. The food is a little pricey for lunch. The outdoor seating is very nice - has a roof to block Texas sun.
