It makes me nervous choosing hotels to stay at for one night whilst driving through, but this one was great. We got in pretty late at night, but the front desk receptionist was friendly and upgraded us. The room was very clean and the hotel is new so everything was working well - Wifi, TVs, shower. If I'm ever back in the area, I'd absolutely stay here again.

It's clean and looks like new. There's a welcoming fire pit patio in the back with lots of inviting space to sit with family or friends and just relax. Breakfast was good. Staff was nice and friendly! Nice pool and exercise room.

The only thing that I didn't like was the fact that while I could close the shear drapes I could not close the heavy drapes on my window in the room because the drapes were not long enough. There was a bright light attached to the building which illuminated my room the entire night and there was not way to block the light.

There is also a large drainage basin between the parking lot and hotel entrance which requires quests to walk all the way around to enter the hotel from the parking lot. It's a bit inconvenient. A walkway across the ditch would really help.

Besides these minor inconveniences I highly recommend this place.

We appreciate your honest feedback. We are so glad that you were able to come and relax at our new hotel! Thank you for letting us know about some of the inconveniences you encountered. We are actually in the process of putting walkways over the rain gardens to make it more convenient for our guests to get to the front entrance. We are hoping that they will be installed soon. When your travels bring you back to Altoona, we sincerely hope that you will choose to stay with us again!

This is a beautiful and pretty much brand new hotel, but it has it's downsides. As some one else noted the elevator is way on one side meaning you may have to walk down one side then all the way back when you get to your floor, but there are stairs on the end opposite the elevator. The room was set up well and everything was brand new and wonderful including the bed and pillows. What was not so great was the sound proofing in the building. I could here the people in the next room talking plain as day and they were not speaking loud just in a normal voice. I was on the end so I only had this on one side, I can't imaging having chatty neighbors on both sides, you would never get to sleep. In addition you can hear the doors slam from all the way down the hall and even the floor above you. Somewhere a dog was barking. Even a person just walking down the hall sounds like a heard of elephants.
The breakfast was very good and while the staff was having a hard time keeping up with the demand they did a decent job.

Altoona isn't exactly close to anything, but this new property is very well done and we had a fabulous experience. We came in at the last minute needing two rooms, one king suite and a double queen. We were accommodated on the first weekend of Penn State football and had two soccer teams at our hotel. Not only were they almost sold out, it was clean and well looked after the entire time. I have never stayed at a joint Towneplace suites (with kitchen) and Fairfield Inn (microwave and small frig only). This joint hotel is only six months old and adjacent to the VA in Altoona. We stayed on the Fairfield side, we weren't planning any homemade meals but appreciated the microwave and frig and coffee maker. We had a king suite with a great bathroom with large walk in shower and then a fabulous sectional sofa with second tv and desk. We had a view of the windmills on the ridge and even though we didn't get the top floor, we never heard a peep from the hall or the people above! Color me impressed!!!! The children had a large double Queen with a nice bathroom and plenty of room. The indoor pool is small and shallow, but was perfectly fine. Nice workout room, super nice communal space, tv and fireplace and the outdoor fireplace and grills and couches are
Fabulous!!!!! Against a quiet hill and you can see the fireworks from the minor league baseball stadium! We had breakfast and please remember the hotel was nearly or totally sold out. We didn't come down till 9:20 and it was mass chaos and everything was low or gone but the staff worked hard and replenished everything and kept working till well past 10 (the close of brekky) to restock and did not close till they personally asked every table if they had everything they needed. The next morning it was not as busy and was well stocked and still as lovely. Not only the right thing to do, but well done. My husband has family in Bedford and we will drive here nightly because I cannot imagine staying anywhere else!

Thank you so much for your glowing review of our new hotel. It is such a pleasure hearing that you enjoyed your stay with us and that you will be returning. My entire team works hard everyday to ensure that each of our guests have an experience like yours. We hope that on your next visit that it will be nice outside so you can enjoy our back patio. There are Weber grills there so that you can cook out or you can just enjoy a nice Central PA fall evening. We look forward to your next visit with us. Thank you again for staying and for sharing your experience.

Newly built hotel with a confusing entrance and layout. Elevator other end of hotel from check-in. Front access very strange with spillway in front. Seems like building should be turned around. Closet in room extremely small only accommodates one person with a very very short stay. Very friendly staff, clean hotel and nice breakfast.
