“worth the short drive to Shakespeare”
Reviewed 7 August 2012

Lithia Springs Resort combines tranquility, luxury, and access to genuine theater in one quiet, peaceful setting. We found the bungalow to be pristine and spacious, with access to unmatched outdoor settings. One of our nights there the resort was full, yet there was no noise, no crowding or jostling for the delicious breakfast. It is as close to owning your own second home as one can get, without the annoying part about owning the second home.
Plays in Ashland are superior, and range far beyond traditional Shakespearean fare. You can be cultured, fed well, and escape to your hideaway all within a couple of miles. Great getaway!

Thank you for your review. We delight in the fact that we are able to offer our guests a place that is far enough away from the commotion of downtown, yet close enough that it isn't much of a drive to get there. Having enough space between the rooms on the property allows for the feeling that you have your own private getaway as well. I am so pleased that you enjoyed your stay, and hope to see you on your next trip through beautiful Southern Oregon!

P.S. Those leather chairs have been one of my favorite places to sit on the property also. It only becomes a problem when they won't let you out of them. ;)

Sincerely,
James Deane

Lithia Springs Resort has been remodeled! Do not be fooled by the old reviews and pictures. A few miles from downtown Ashland, this resort is an excellent getaway.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for the weekend and are very happy with the clean, fun and modern feel of Lithia Springs. Checking in and out at the desk is quick. Staff was always friendly. They offer peanut butter cookies in the lobby, which I like. The one I picked up was good tasting but on the brittle side.

After putting down our luggage we headed downstairs for tea time which is really excellent. The walnut cookies and green tea make my day. During tea time I noticed that people were setting up for a wedding! How exciting! The gardens are so beautiful it's easy to imagine wanting a small wedding here.

The rooms are clean and modern - consistent with the feel of the rest of the resort. Ladies, the closet space is well organized and gentlemen, the television is on the larger side. The spring water does leave a sulfur smell and the remedy to that is leaving the bathroom fan on and lighting a candle.

Breakfast is very good. Daily offerings include yogurt, fruit and oatmeal. In addition, there are a few items that change such as scrambled eggs, eggs benedict and potatoes. Coffee could be a little stronger.

Thank your for your review and feedback on our remodel! It sounds like you had a wondeful time. The gardens this time of year certainly are a thing of splendor. Part of the goal of our remodel was to compliment the beautiful gardens with an equally tranquil experience on the inside. It sounds like this goal was accomplished with your stay :) We look forward to seeing you on your next trip through Ashland and will have a fresh batch of peanut butter cookies waiting for your arrival. Thanks again from all of us here at the resort!

Sincerely,
James Deane

Our recent stay at the Lithia Springs Resort was perfect for our visit. The resort is now run by the Ashland Springs Hotel group and couldn't have been nicer. The cottage we stayed in was airy, comfortable and surrounded by beautiful gardens. A hot buffet breakfast was included in our room price and the fresh scones each morning were delicious. We originally were concerned that the location was going to be far from our daughter's in Ashland but were pleased to discover the drive was less than 5 minutes. The staff was helpful, friendly and welcoming. We would definitely recommend the property to our friends.

Room Tip: The cottages each have large jetted baths with lithia springs water.

Thank you so much for your review. We are very proud of all of our staff here at the resort, and take it upon ourselves to provide the best possible experience for our guests. The change in ownership and aesthetics with the renovation can be initially shocking to some of our returning guests, but once they realize we have maintained the same spirit of putting the guest first it tends to put them at ease (the amazing breakfasts from our beloved chef don't hurt). Thank you again, and we look forward to making many more of your visits to Ashland as special as possible.

Warmly,
James

We found this lovely hotel while searching for a place to stay in Ashland, Oregon. From the moment we arrived we were treated like treasured guests. The king sized patio room was delightful and had it's own private outside sitting area. The grounds are beautiful, and there are plenty of places to sit and read while enjoying the magical setting. We went to see a play in the evening, the hotel offered a Shakespeare packaging and it was wonderful. Tickets to the play, and a short drive made for a wonderful experience. Breakfast was hearty, and served buffet style, fresh fruit and french toast. We will definitely return to Lithia springs, and encourage anyone looking for a romantic getaway to consider this very special resort.

Room Tip: We chose a quiet room, with a patio and found it splendid.

I stayed here last weekend with my husband and two children after a day of driving (on our way from So Cal to Seattle) This was a great place for us to unwind and relax. We were pleasantly surprised by the bright and clean lobby, and extreme friendliness of our hostess, Angel. (This is why I gave a "very good" rating for service)
She showed us the room available before we decided if we would stay. We stayed in room 14 which was a nice size for us, and had plenty of room for the kids to stretch out. We enjoyed the in-room tub and the patio. (The tub fixtures and shower fixtures cold have been cleaned better though) I think if the room had an updated tub it would be perfect! But it worked. The bathroom was very nice though.
I plan to go back with my mom and sisters to have a relaxing girls weekend. With the clsoe proximity to downtown Ashland and the many things to do there, this is a great weekend spot!
Only complaint...the woman who worked the dining room seemed to be annoyed that I was in there with my children, even though they were seated very quietly and acted very respectfully at the buffet and table. I would have appreciated being acknowledged, as she only acknowledged "couples" with a smile and "how is everything?". Luckily she was the only one who seemed annoyed, as the guests in the dining room seemed to not mind at all having children there. (I have many years experience working in hotels and know that even if a guest seems like they cannot chat at the moment, they should atleast be greeted with a smile and "hello".) Up until breakfast, I felt very welcome. The food at breakfast was very good though and not your typical, drab "free continental breakfast."
One suggestion...plant some trees along side the property that faces the car dealership. We walked arund the grounds, really enjoying the gardens until we turned to see we weren't actually as far from the road as we felt. Block the view of the car dealer! :)
