“No 1 Hotel in Gumbet - I don't think so!!”
Reviewed 3 October 2011

Just returned from 2 weeks stay at Queen Resort with my husband and daughter. Apartments are fine, good enough standard and cleaning staff are lovely and professional but the pool area is quite tight on the left hand side and pool is quite deep for children. My husband is turkish and I have been going to gumbet on holiday for the past 17 years and I have to say I was very disappointed with here as the majority of reviews been overly positive and not in my opinion very honest. Air conditioning in charged "locally" and they tried to charge us £100 for 2 weeks at the beginning. Few guests we spoke to had been quoted different prices for this so be careful about it. Didn't eat much at restaurant as the few snacks we did buy were not very nice and quite expensive compared to other places. Bronze Corner restaurant across the road and to the right is very good. Our daughter is disabled and the access to the hotel is very bad as the so-called ramp is very steep, difficult to get her chair up but imposssible for going down. My husband spoke to reception about this and the guy just shrugged and said there was nothing they could do about it. I agree with some previous comments about staff attitudes, if you don't socialise day and night here they don't have any time for you, only 2 members of staff made any effort to be friendly to us and our daughter. I have stayed in a variety of accommodation in gumbet over the years, from villas to family run hotels all of which have been exceptional. The queen resort is somewhere I wouldn't personally recommend as a friendly place unless you are willing to spend all of your time and money inside. But as always e had a fantastic holiday in gumbet apart from this and would highly recommend this area to anyone wanting to holiday in Turkey.

Room Tip: we stayed on ground floor at back of building, quiet at night as it is far enough away from bar area...

My husband and I stayed at the Queens for 1 week from the 16th September. We go to Gumbet every year but this was the first time we had stayed here and would reccommend it to everyone. It was very clean and tidy & room was cleaned everyday. Staff friendly but gave you space too. Entertainment very good and the hotel its self was very central to everywhere.

The only problem was the Thomas Cook rep Craig he was terrable so use to anyone they would defo need to get a new rep. As we have been to Turkey for many years we are pretty knowledgable with the country but we met a couple that needed his help quite badly and he was really no help, however this is not the hotels fault they were very helpful.

Will be booking for next year

Just returned from a 2 weeks stay at the Queen Resort. We really loved it. The staff are great ,so friendly. the apartment was really spacious,& the cleaners did a great job.The Turkish night was great ,good food & excellent entertainment. We thought Gumbet was a great resort, lovely beach,& good restaurants. Our favourite restaurant was Our House, Wonderful food ,especially the steaks, could not get anything better at home, The Royal was also good, our favourite there being the fajitas. Would certainly go back to Gumbet & stay at The Queen Resort

Stayed here for 2 weeks. Wasn't sure at first having had arrived in the middle of the night very tired, but soon settled in once we found our way around. Nice place, staff always helpful and courteous to customers. My husband got told off for taking his empty beer glass back to the bar.....the staff ordered that they do it, very helpful!! Entertainment good, considering the very long hours that the bar staff work, they never seemed to tire of trying to make things enjoyable for the customers. Didn't eat a lot here, but mainly due to wanting to sample other places, but when we did eat in the hotel, the food was fine. The rooms were nice and modern, could only get a couple of tv channels in english though, and one was the bbc news 24 lol but it wasn't the end of the world!! Very clean, maids worked from morning to night it seemed keeping the place clean. Beds were very comfortable, and changed daily, nice soft pillows too. Be aware though that you have to pay for air conditioning at 11TL per day, which they don't specify on their web site. Turkish night on a thursday was good fun with staff entertaining afterwards. Only things that i'd comment negatively on would be the towels which were a bit shabby, and they could have done with some more drinking glasses. Only two electric rings for cooking and freezer was full of solid ice, meaning we couldn't have used it, but we didn't need to so it was fine. Tried to speak to girl at reception about a couple of things, but the language barrier proved problematic at times.
On the whole a very nice place which is near the beach, shops and nice restaurants. Would be happy to book again. I would suggest if you're looking for quiet in the evenings to try for a room at the back as it can get noisy near the bar in the evenings and in to the wee small hours!!

Room Tip: ask for a room away from the bar area as it can get noisy late evenings, and in to the early hours...

I stayed here with my mum stepdad and sister for 2weeks it was lovely! As soon as we arrived the guy on reception can running out to help us with our bags and the security guy took us to our room, the staff were all lovely, we didn't really eat the food at the hotel and we only spent a couple of hours by the pool, we went to the turkish night and it was great a good laugh! I would recommend going to it!....its on a lovely wee street with lots of shops and restaurants.....I would recommend going to The Royal it is probably the best restaurant we went to we ate there for breakfast every morning and a lot of nights for dinner it is SUPER in there ha....Our House is also a good restaurant.....its not far from the beach just a 2 minute walk....The rooms are always lovely and clean....The Maid/Cleaner was lovely.....we're hopefully booking to go back next year! Would defo recommend it :D
